December, 4th, 2011 German Navy Detachment at Djibouti played against the US Navy and lost 2:9. Bad. Really bad. These moments were shot with my Canon EOS 600d (t3i Rebel) and my beloved 50mm lens. First I tried some shots with the kit lens, but let's be true: The kit lens is crap. Maybe you can afford some nice shots with good lighting conditions, but whenever there's no daylight around, the kit lens doesn't do a good job. Photography by SFC Cauchi and SP5 Lucero. Sound by SP5 Lowe.) The motto of the 38th Aerospace Rescue and Recovery Squadron is "That Others May Live". To insure their ability to be ready whenever the alarm sounds, Detachment 4 of the squadron at Korat, Thailand carries out frequent Fire Suppression Training exercises to maintain top level proficiency. The primary tool in their firefighting arsenal is the HH43 B "Pedro" helicopter, coupled with a special foam-producing fire suppression kit. "Pedro" carries two fire-fighters in Homex suits which protect them from temperatures up to 1800 degrees. In addition, a medical technician goes along as part of the team. Once the rescue team is aboard and the engines started, the crew chief moves to the Fire Suppression Kit where he hooks it to the hovering copter and the pilot heads toward the fire area. The Fire Suppression Kit contains 78 1/2 gallons of water and five gallons of protein foam. Compressed air in the tank, when released, expands the mixture into 690 gallons of fire-suppressing foam. From the time an actual crash alert is sounded, the chopper and its crew of five can be airborne and on their way to the site .... + Informações

WASHINGTON, DC The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), in cooperation with Stork Craft Manufacturing Inc., of British Columbia, Canada, today announced the voluntary recall of more than 2.1 million Stork Craft drop-side cribs, including about 147000 Stork Craft drop-side cribs with the Fisher-Price logo. The recall involves approximately 1213000 units distributed in the United States and 968000 units distributed in Canada. CPSC urges parents and caregivers to immediately stop using the recalled cribs, wait for the free repair kit, and do not attempt to fix the cribs without the kit. They should find an alternative, safe sleeping environment for their baby. Consumers should contact Stork Craft to receive a free repair kit that converts the drop-side on these cribs to a fixed side. The cribs drop-side plastic hardware can break, deform, or parts can become missing. In addition, the drop-side can be installed upside-down, which can result in broken or disengaged plastic parts. All of these problems can cause the drop-side to detach in one or more corners. When the drop-side detaches, it creates space between the drop-side and the crib mattress. The bodies of infants and toddlers can become entrapped in the space which can lead to suffocation. Complete detachment of drop-sides can lead to falls from the crib. CPSC, Health Canada, and Stork Craft are aware of 110 incidents of drop-side detachment; 67 incidents occurred in the United States and 43 in Canada. The .... + Informações

This project was done at School of design, at Carnegie Mellon (Instructed by Kees Overbeeke in 2006). Just as language reflects the culture we live in, gestures reflect our mood. The goal of this project is to build a light installation/environment that motivates physical connection and allows humans to live within a specific environment. Our activity focus was choosing outfits, since current closets are usually dark, with minimal lighting and a lack of interaction. We first defined the two opposing value activities that can be found during choosing outfits: creativity, and detachment. We then we studied how physicality is involved in a dynamic choreography, which helped to establish the role light plays in a the closet. This light system represents detachment. + Informações
