Demilich was a finnish Death Metal band formed in Kuopio,1990. They released their first demo "The Four Instructive Tales... Of Decomposition" in 1991. Their second demo "Regurgitation of Blood" was also released in 1991. Their third demo "...Somewhere Inside the Bowels of Endlessness..." was released in 1992 and has no covers,just a plain tape. The fourth and last demo "The Echo" was released in 1992 and distributed by Grinder Productions. The band received a record deal from Necropolis Records and the band recorded their legendary "Nespithe" in 1993. Nespithe means "The Spine" and Erecshyrinol means "No Lyrics Here". They can be decrypted by grouping the letters in three,starting at the end of the word,and reversing the order of those groups. They claim that no effects were used on the vocals. The album was reissued through Repulse Records,Pavement Records,Sick Records (As a tape) and Century Media. The lyrical themes were quite cryptic and odd. All of the band's releases can be downloaded from their website. Their music is very technical and still manages to be very brutal. They played their last gig in Kuopio,Finland at "Henry's Pub" 2006-07-22 and the supporting band was Deathbound. It's been a while so why not come back in style. I figured I'd challenge myself with learning Erecshyrinol (anagram of No Lyrics Here), one of the more beastly bits on Nespithe. I covered Inherited Bowel Levitation with GaryCancer (youtube user) a couple of years ago but I hadn't gone back to Demilich in a while. But I started listening to them again recently, and this song is so twisty and fun that I decided to cover it. I picked the left side to cover. There are a few parts that are different from the right side but it's largely the same. Obviously I didn't do the solo; it's mostly just a bunch of whammy stuff and this guitar is fixed-bridge. Several hours of decoding the riffs of this song (and I think some of it is still off, but whatever), several more spent trying to learn to play them, then another few spent on the 20+ takes it took to get an acceptable one... suffice it to say it's been an ordeal! But I'm happy in the end that I was able to get it done, though not perfect. Honestly there are some parts of this song that are as difficult as anything I've ever covered, including Deeds of Flesh and Suffocation. Demilich's penchant for wide-interval string skipping riffs is awesome to listen to but irritating as hell to play! I've made a tab if anyone is interested; it's not complete as of yet and of course it might be off anyway, but it's something to go from if you want to attempt some Demilich. I bought "Nespithe" few months ago and i read from the booklet, that nobody has been able to produce vocals such as Antti Boman does. So i gave it a try.. I did the best i could with my shitty gear (as mentioned in the video) and i couldn't get any echoing effects, so this is more like Demilich from their demo-era. When i get some new equipment or a echoing space where i could record my videos i shall do more covers of Demilich. But try to enjoy this one.. + Informações
