From 1965, on Blue Rock. This track was released as 'Baby I'm Yours', but was changed to 'Another Lonely Saturday' to avoid confusion with the Barbara Lewis record of the same name. Pookie loves this record, and thinks Dee Dee Warwick was one of the premier NY Soul singers. The production is by Ed Townsend who did such a marvelous job on all of Dee Dee's early records. Forever relegated to the shadows of her superstar sister, Dee Dee Warwick is yet another artist whose enormous talent never fully blossomed into commercial viability. After singing in gospel outfits and recording as a backing vocalist, Dee Dee began cutting her own records in 1963, when she released the original version of "You're No Good" (Jubilee 5459). Although the track was produced by the celebrated duo of Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller, the record failed to properly launch her solo career. It likely didn't help matters that Betty Everett released a rendition of the tune that same year, especially considering that her cover met with some modest success on the charts. To this day, Betty Everett is often mistakenly cited as the artist who released the original version of the song.. + Informações

Dee Dee Warwick sang with her sister Dionne Warwick and their aunt Cissy Houston in the New Hope Baptist Church Choir in Newark, NJ: eventually the three women formed the gospel trio the Gospelaires who often performed with the Drinkard Singers, Houston being a member of both groups.At a performance by the Gospelaires with the Drinkard Singers at the Apollo Theater in 1959, the Warwick sisters were recruited by a record producer for session work and Dionne and Dee Dee Warwick, along with Doris Troy, subsequently became a prolific New York City area session singing team.Dee Dee Warwick began to dabble in a solo career in 1963 cutting what is reportedly the earliest version of "You're No Good" for Jubilee Records, produced by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller, who later recorded Warwick on their own Tiger label with the 1964 single "Don't Think My Baby's Coming Back". In 1964 Warwick recorded a version of "I (Who Have Nothing)" for Hurd - although the song's lyric was written by Leiber and Stoller the duo did not participate in Warwick's recording - and Warwick also recorded as a member of Allison Gary and the Burners (as did Cissy Houston) with a release on Royo entitled "Darling".Warwick performed on Shivaree which aired July 17, 1965, she sang "We're Doing Fine" and "I Want to Be with You". Betty *who*? Yes, Ms. Everett's version was the hit, but Dee Dee's was the original (and still the greatest). And listen to the church she brings to that last verse. Clint Ballard must have loved this version. Lord knows I love her sister, but even Dionne said that Dee Dee was the singer in the family.. + Informações

Dee Dee Warwick (September 25, 1945 October 18, 2008) Born in Newark, New Jersey as Delia Mae Warrick, she was the sister of Dionne Warwick, niece of Cissy Houston and cousin of Whitney Houston. Some pedigree. She sang with her sister Dionne and Aunt Cissy Houston in The Gospelaires. Dee Dee went solo in 1963 on Jubilee Records and in 1964 recorded for Leiber & Stollers Tiger Record label. In 1965 she signed for Mercury records where she recorded with Ed Townsend for their subsidiary BLUE ROCK reaching the R&B top 30 with Were doing fine and it is from this era the earlier released DO IT WITH ALL YOUR HEART came from and is one of my favourites.
