Johnny Williams - Honey Child (Cinema) 2.65 min. | 5.0 avaliação | 148 exibições Awesome rendition of the mod classic released by texan singer Johnny williams on the Houston based Cinema label in 1965. The tune was penned by Peacock-Duke owner Don Robey under his usual pseudonmy of Deadric Malone and sung for the first time by Boddy Bland a year before. Johnny Williams' was reissued a few months later on another Houston label, International Artists. There is another great cover by the texan band The Sunglows, expect an early uopload of it!. + Informações |

Joe Medwick - Alabama Blues (Paradise) 2.28 min. | 0 avaliação | 85 exibições Brilliant cover of the Elmore Nixon blues standard by the underrated talent of Joe Medwick. Released on the Paradise label out of Houston back in 1961 (it's the label first release) the tune was a hit when it was released on peacock back in 1950. Out of curiosity, the credits of the song are shared with Deadric Malone, a pseudonym of Don Robey, Peacock records owner, as it was made thousand of times even Robey had nothing to do with the songwriting of the song. He "bought" songs many times for $20 cash! But that's another story. Joe Medwick had another release on Paradise, the fantastic "you little heartbreaker you / I cried" and a fine number of 45s on other labels, starting by Duke (another Don Robey label) where he mainly wrote songs for many artists (credited or uncredited) such as Bobby Bland, Junior Parker and others. My copy has suffered some serious water damage, and almost has no trace of its original burgundy label with silver lettering. Don't miss out the monster side "second time around" listenable as well in my channel!. + Informações |

'As the years go passing by' on Ukulele 4.33 min. | 4.9310346 avaliação | 1319 exibições A recording from last week. I wanted to redo it because of some mistakes in the vocals and also the uke part, but since I got a bad cold I will not be able to rerecord it the next days, so this version will have to do. The song is an old blues. According to Wikipedia it is not 100% sure who wrote this song, it was either Deadric Malone (a pseudonym of Don Robey) or Peppermint Harris. It was first recorded by Fenton Robinson in 1959. Other artists who played it were Albert King, Eric Burdon & the Animals, Gary Moore, and Santana. I played it on the Schaepe soprano ukulele.. + Informações |

We are all hard working musicians who love the music, Jerry, and performing. Our intentions, pure and simple, are to create good times, dancing, great music, and an experience you will not soon forget. Come see the "Cats on the bandstand". "I think your band is at the top of the heap of JGB inspired bands. You all treat songs very much as we tried to do so many years ago. I was struck with Pete's drumming and Zach plays more like ol' Jer than anyone I've heard. Pete's groove: each song starts and ends with the same tempo, he doesn't slow down or speed up and this is a rare thing with the other JGB inspired bands. I also like his feel, he seems to be telling the others "let me wrap my arms around you all and define the feel and tempo for all of us, trust in me" great drummers have always done this, drummers like Jim Gordon, Charlie Watts and I've always tried to do this whenever I played a song. Best of luck to you all, with respect, David Kemper" David Kemper, Drummer - Jerry Garcia Band General Manager / Booking Agent : Full Circle Music Productions ( www .... + Informações |

damon fowler - as the years go passing by - 5-28-10 10.43 min. | 5.0 avaliação | 1693 exibições Damon Fowler Group. Great show at the Side Door - Palladium, 5-28-2010, St Petersburg. Who knows who actually wrote "as the years go passing by"? Credit is given to Deadric Malone aka Don Robey, a record company owner, but seems he may have placed his name on songs written by others. Anyway, Albert King may not have been the first to do the song, but his covers are my favorite. I have to think Damon tapped Albert's influence and beyond here.. + Informações |

Turn On Your Love Light - Matt Pozdol 2.05 min. | 4.3333335 avaliação | 770 exibições "Turn On Your Love Light" is an R&B-style blues song recorded by Bobby Bland in 1961. It was a both an important R&B and pop chart hit for Bland and has become one of his most identifiable songs. A variety of artists have recorded it, including the Grateful Dead, who made it part of their concert repertoire. "Turn On Your Love Light" was written by band leader and arranger Joe Scott (with an additional credit given to Duke Records owner/producer Don Robey aka Deadric Malone). Scott's brass arrangement "upped the excitement ante" with "the groove picking up momentum as the horns and percussion talk to each other" and Bland's vocal "riding on top". Backing Bland are probably Joe Scott and Melvin Jackson (trumpets), Pluma Davis (trombone), Johnny Board and Jimmy Beck (saxophones), Rayfield Davers (baritone saxophone), Teddy Reynolds (piano), Wayne Bennett (guitar), Hamp Simmons (bass), and John "Jabo" Starks (drums). "Turn On Your Love Light" was one of Bobby Bland's most popular singles. It entered the Billboard R&B chart on December 4, 1961, eventually reaching #2 during a stay of fifteen weeks. It was also a Top 40 hit, reaching #28, one of Bland's highest showings in the pop chart. In 1964, Van Morrison's band Them often performed "Turn On Your Love Light" live at the Maritime Hotel in Belfast, Northern Ireland. A fan's recording of one of these performances brought Them to the attention of Dick Rowe and led to a recording contract with Decca Records. It is included on .... + Informações |

AS THE YEARS GO PASSING BY - Inspired by Santana / Albert King 6.83 min. | 4.848485 avaliação | 7487 exibições This is avideo of one of my demos. I thought i'd edit together clips from here and there into videos to go along with some of my demos, rather than just the sound. Since people often have a limited attention span, thus a video may lure them into listening for longer. The track is AS THE YEARS GO PASSING BY written by Deadric Malone and originally performed by Albert King and later by various other artists. It has quite a bit of influence from the Santana live versions, but it's kinda unique and different to in some way to each of the other versions. AS THE YEARS GO PASSING BY Words & Music by D. Malone Arranged by E. Shi guitar - Esan Shi drums - George Grignon bass - Esan Shi vocal - Esan Shi Recorded / edited / mixed / produced by E. Shi It's basically my demo version of "As The Years Go Passing By" written by Deadric Malone. Single takes again. LYRICS: There is nothing I can do If you leave me here to cry There is nothing I can do If you leave me here to cry And all my love i'll follow you As the years go passing by I give you all I own That's one thing you you can't deny Yeah I give you all I own That's one thing you you can't deny And all my love i'll follow you As the years go passing by I'm gonna leave it up to you So long so long goodbye Yes i'm gonna leave it up to you So long so long goodbye Yeah and all my love i'll follow you As the years go passing by Keep checking for more demos as there will always be more to come.
