Dont Let It Slip Away, When German melodic hardrockers PINK CREAM 69 signed to Frontiers Records, one was the main point wriggling around my mind: who would expose his 'closet' first? The band or the label? Well, the band's latest "In10sity" release saw nothing less than the quintet's familiar style. And it's vocalist Dave Readman going solo now, with an album as expected to be, and really acts as desired by the label's profile without omitting his band's ideals. OK, Dave (ex-ADAGIO) was clever enough to let PC69 members out of the playing team. But - on the other hand - when you choose Dennis Ward (PINK CREAM 69 bassist & songwriter) to handle the production of your first solo album, then it' obvious the spirit will float all around. For those having heard him in the ANDERSEN/LAINE/READMAN 2006 project (I haven't), conclusions or comparisons may (or not) be more specific or-down-to-earth. For me, admiring this vocalist all the way in his 13-year career with 'das Pinkies', by listening to the album for a couple of times, things did start getting clear enough. Raise your hands, if you assume David Readman's first solo attempt is a mix of the PC69 dynamics/sound and the Frontiers melodies/'mainstream'-ness (sic). You win. In fact, the album can be described as 'chopped in half'. There's no chance you'll feel let down if you consider yourself to be an (at least) post-Deris PC69 devotee. David Readman "Take These Tears" Hailing from Burnley (two minutes from where I live), David Readman is best known as the vocalist who replaced Andi Deris in Pink Cream 69. If life was fair after the release of this, his first solo effort he would be known as a huge star. Sadly I suspect that won't happen because radio and television here in the UK aren't interested in a) rock music and b) artists with real talent. On any scale of measurement David Readman has made a fantastic record. To be fair, the signs are always good when one sees that Dennis Ward is behind the production desk and a veritable who's who of the melodic rock scene playing alongside the man himself doesn't hurt. Without You is the opening song is a contender for song of the year. It races along powered by Frankie Sullivan style guitars and an instantaneous chorus that is truly excellent. A fabulous start to any album. Evil Combination is a bit moodier but with another great chorus whereas Take These Tears is reminiscent of late 80's Whitesnake. Don't Let It Slip Away is a melodic classic in the making and again shows the sheer class of the song writing on this disc. This song is good enough to have appeared on last year's Sunstorm album and that is high praise indeed. No Peace for the Wicked is exactly the kind of song you normally get at this juncture on this type of CD. It is much heavier than anything else thus far and has a more offbeat hook and sounds like House of Lords -- another compliment. Long .... + Informações

The album shows his love for late days WHITESNAKE and at some point Readman sings better then Coverdale can in the present time. Still at some other point like the "Over the ocean" a rockier tendency comes out, a little TESLA good old rocking feeling. In general the album is a melodic well crafted album, with some mid tempo songs, polished in the vein of DEF LEPPARD, WHITESNAKE with even some contemporary hints from bands like HIM, listen to the opener "Without you" to get an idea. The main thing is that it has a good clear production, needed for albums at this genre and gives a nice time to the listener. It is definitely not so hard as the late PINK CREAM but has the personal touch of a great vocalist David Readman, it is more diverse and has the clarity that only the good US FM albums can show.
