David Paton was lead singer of the 1970s band Pilot, and he wrote their two big hits, "Magic" and "January." They also charted with "Just A Smile" and "Call Me Round" before splitting up later that decade. Since then David has been in demand as a session musician and among his impressive credits he played on several Elton John albums and the worldwide No.1 hit by Kate Bush, "Wuthering Heights." He still gigs now and has a new solo album out called "Under The Sun." He appeared live on Hugh Brown's "Golden Brown" programme on Radio Borders on May 6th 2012 for a chat about the hit days of the 70s, his time in the Bay City Rollers pre-Pilot, his session work and his current career. This is a video I took of David in November 2009 at The Jam House in Edinburgh with The Flavours. As you will see it is taken at the end of the evening when the credits were being given out by Steve Davidson the lead singer.
