A wee upload for listeners of the podcast I contribute to every week, britishtvpodcast.com. You can find all ten minutes of the Comic Relief sketch elsewhere on YouTube so I only uploaded the relevant bits. Before American Idol & Pop Idol there was the British reality show Popstars in which young, attractive members of the public vied to be part of a new prefab pop group. One of the contestants, Darius Danesh, was ousted early but memorably swore to the judges that this was just the beginning and someday he'd have a number one record. He proceeded to do just that, appearing on Pop Idol the next year and scoring a record contract. During the Comic Relief sketches that year, Peter Serafinowicz nailed his impression of Darius at that defining moment. Nice job by Rowan Atkinson as Nigel Lythgoe too. And yes, that's Kate Winslet giving Cassius a slap; she appeared earlier in the full video auditioning with "My Heart Will Go On.". + Informações

I recorded this on my phone during the pilot episode of Popstar To Operastar (Thursday 14th January 2010). It was a truly amazing performance and earned a standing ovation from the crowd and rightfully so.
