Big Scary perform "Satisfy Me" live for www.sideshowalley.tv http ABOUT THE EPISODE It was the middle of the afternoon on a Saturday when we met Tom and Jo. We'd chosen an alley behind The Toff in Town, right in the heart of Melbourne's Chinatown, as they were performing there that night and were waiting to do soundcheck. We couldn't resist asking if they might like to perform while sitting on top of one of the large rubbish bins that filled the alley. We realised it was meant to be when Tom's socks blended so perfectly. Up you get then. We had the most on-lookers and the most traffic noise of any Sideshow to date. Yet Big Scary managed to carve out a lovely moment of serenity with a beautiful and personal rendition of "Satisfy Me". ABOUT BIG SCARY Tom was a strummer. Jo was a drummer. The lovely folks at the Workers opened up their laneway entrance to supply power to Sam's keyboard. Posed between the pub and the parked cars, the two delighted us with possibly one of our favourite sessions to date, a fortunate combination of an elegantly executed song with environmental blessings such as perfectly timed gusts of wind. Hi all Here's my latest video for the U2 song Fast Cars. It wasn't my first song choice to make a video for, but I thought it suited the graphics and video footage I'd chosen better than any of the other non-video songs from the HTDAAB era. I was partly influenced by the new video for Get On Your Boots as the band plays against a green screen backdrop (that later on in the production they add special effects to) and I noticed that the short video for the Vertigo ipod commercial also had a similar coloured background that maybe I could add some sort of effect to. As there was only a maximum of 84 seconds of U2 footage in the ipod commercial to try and stretch to the 3 and half minutes of Fast Cars, I have had to use A LOT of repeated footage. But hopefully the background keeps the viewer interested and also adds a little bit of UMPH to the song ;) The band appear quite dark against the background, but I think the whole 'silhouette' thing works really well.
