O Boeing-Sikorsky RAH-66 Comanche é um helicóptero de reconhecimento armado do Exército dos EUA e é também o primeiro desenvolvido especialmente para esta função. O Comanche deverá substituir a atual frota de AH-1, OH-6A e OH-58 e complementar os AH-64 Apache nos batalhões de ataque pesado. O primeiro protótipo do RAH-66 saiu da fábrica da Sikorsky em 25 de maio de 1995, fazendo seu primeiro vôo em 4 de janeiro de 1996. Sua função principal será procurar e designar alvos para o AH-64 à noite e em tempo ruim, usando sistemas infravermelhos avançados. O sistema integrado de ataque irá automaticamente identificar o campo de batalha, priorizando e atacando os alvos. O armamento consistirá de um canhão XM301 de 20 mm, até 14 mísseis anti-tanque Hellfire, 28 mísseis ar-ar Stinger (ATAS) ou 56 foguetes Hydra de 70 mm. Até 4 Hellfire e dois Stinger poderão ser instalados num compartimento retrátil de armas. John Gale Horton (April 30, 1925 November 5, 1960), known professionally as Johnny Horton, was an American country music singer who was most famous for his semi-folk, so-called "saga songs" which launched the "historical ballad" craze of the late 1950s and early 1960s. Horton had two other crossover hits with "North to Alaska," in John Wayne's hit film, North to Alaska; and "Sink the Bismarck". Horton was also a rockabilly singer, and was inducted into the Rockabilly Hall of Fame. Comanche was a mixed Mustang/Morgan horse who survived General George Armstrong Custer's detachment of the United States 7th Cavalry at the Battle of the Little Bighorn. He was bought by the US Army in 1868 in St. Louis, Missouri and sent to Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. Captain Myles Keogh of the 7th Cavalry liked the 15 hand bay gelding and bought him for his own personal mount, to be ridden only in battle. In 1868, while fighting the Comanche in Kansas, the horse was wounded in the hindquarters by an arrow, but continued to let Keogh fight from his back. Thus the horse was named Comanche to honor his bravery. Comanche was wounded many more times, always exhibiting the same toughness. Comanche died in 1890. He is one of only two horses in United States history to be buried with full military honors, the other being Black Jack. This is me playing through "Oil Tank Holiday", the first mission of Comanche: Maximum Overkill. This is a helicopter simulation of the (now-cancelled) RAH-66 Comanche. The game pioneered the "great graphics, low realism" characteristic that went into most of NovaLogic's games. The graphics were quite impressive for a 1992 DOS game (thanks to the then-pioneering voxel rendering engine), but the flight model is a bit lacking (for example, the collective acts as an altitude selector, changing your actual altitude instead of your rate of climb or descent). At the time, this game competed directly with Gunship 2000 (the only other major helicopter sim of the day), which beat Comanche hands-down in terms of realism and depth of play, but featured relatively flat graphics. Filmed using the direct-to-AVI feature of DOSBox 0.65, and converted to a YouTube-compatible AVI with mencoder (which comes with MPlayer).. + Informações

Comanche 3 was a helicopter simulation game of the cancelled Boeing/Sikorsky RAH-66 Comanche project of the US Army. This game was developed by NovaLogic in 1997. Like NovaLogic's other games of the Comanche series, it based on voxel technology, which allowed much more detailed and realistic terrains compared to simulations based on vector graphics. Comanche: Maximum Overkill is a helicopter simulation game done by NovaLogic in 1992. It is the first game in the Comanche series based on the cancelled Boeing/Sikorsky RAH-66 Comanche helicopter program of the US Army. This game uses NovaLogic's Voxel Space engine, a voxel rendering technique that allowed to display a much more detailed terrain than any vector graphics based engine at that time. It was released for MS-DOS, you can see the self-running demo version in this video. There was also a Super Nintendo/Famicom version in development, but it has been cancelled later.
