The ever spinning wheel of time and a confluence of events lead me to spend most of Thanksgiving '09 Weekend in Louisville Kentucky and I felt that I would be remiss in not making the pilgrimage to Cave Hill National Cemetery, a site that actually rivals Mt Carmel....The most famous resident is of course Col Harland Sanders and as I considered the comical prospect of his grave resembling a giant KFC bucket, much to my chagrin there was in fact a plastic replica of one serving as a floral vase at the foot of his monument...a bust of the Colonel at the top of the center pillar bore the familiar sly grin that seemed to remind us that he may have taken the original 7 herbs and spices secret to his grave ..there was also a commemorative partially consumed biscuit placed at the base of his marker .. .. + Informações

No luck.... probably because we weren't taking things very seriously on this particular day. Just having a fun outting with my wife.. + Informações

This is from an 8mm film taken at my Great-Grandparents 50th wedding anniversary in 1967. My Mom is 15 years old in this! I never had a chance to meet my Great-Grandparents, but from what my Mom has told me through the years, it is as if I did know them. They were immigrants from Denmark, and my Grandma and Aunt Edna, (twins), were conceived on the boat coming over, and were the first of the family to be born in America. They were married in 1917 and my Great-Grandfather worked as a blacksmith and then tried to run a farm. The farm did very poorly and the cows died for unknown reasons. Without any money to feed their family, (at the time they had two girls), they decided to come to America. My Mom has told me stories that when they came over, they didn't know how to speak English or count American money, so they would hold it out to buy things hoping they didn't get ripped off. After a while they ran a boarding house and did well with my Great-Grandma tending to the boarders, and my Great-Grandpa being a Jack-of-all-trades. After all was said and done, they had 5 children. All were girls except for 1 boy that was a stillborn. The 2nd oldest girl passed away at 19 years. Through all the hardships they endured, they stuck with each other till their death. My Great-Grandma passed away first, and two months later, my Great-Grandpa passed. Even though I never did meet them, I do cry when I see this. It was such a happy time for them. His strength and his voice educated the world and shone a bright light on bigotry and homophobia escpecially in the United States. Ryan White is buried in Cicero, Indiana.
