Well, in spite of some rather hefty setbacks, on both my free time and my technology deciding it wanted to be a real patience-tester, I'm uploading again! Unfortunately, another break is fast approaching for me, so I won't be doing much uploading starting say a week from today, and maybe even a few days leading up to that. As such, I really don't want to get into any big-time projects or at least the labor-intensive ones, which means if you were hoping for some more Castlevania Judgment or One Piece: Grand Adventure, I believe the shortness of time will cause me to rule that out for at least the time being. We return to the field of battle so that Drkernie1200 can educate me in the ways of pain and suffering and maybe I'll pick up a thing or two in this school of hard knocks. I really do feel like I learn things every time I play this game, but the problem then becomes internalizing and then executing them myself. --- Match #1 -- Shirato Street Hidan (Ms. Mutou) vs. Kakuzu (ERNIE-KUN) We saw Hidan in action on the previous video's final match...and he's still pretty much all offense, even when someone like me takes the reins. Of course, this requires a little bit of overriding my naturally cautious tendencies, because playing him slowly will rather diminish the effectiveness of his under-guarded assaults. I do need to stop throwing down symbols of Jashin while I'm in the midst of combat... That absurdly long swing session of his is entirely one move in place of where most characters would have a normal counterattack, just to underscore his no-defense attitude. (The fact that projectiles bounce off of it doesn't count, that was just God's divine intervention!) --- Match #2 -- Tanzaku Castle Sasuke Uchiha (Ms. Mutou) vs. Kisame Hoshigaki (ERNIE-KUN) This match (well, part of it, anyway) probably represents the closest I've come to a "competent" performance as Sasuke. I'm probably going to need to lay off the ninjutsu for awhile, huh? At the very least, I should stop recording it in such mass quantities or something, because my computer complained today that I'd been cramming it full of kunai and such. But, I mean...shucks if I'm not more than a little flattered by all the interest from viewers...or uh, people who have at least trawled YouTube for footage from the game and somehow found me and thereby "viewed" a video in order to leave a comment. It's not quite as flattering if we put it like that, but I'm pretty sure that's not the case with the people I've been playing anyway. So anyhow, this is a brief string of pre-match matches while I waited and readied myself for my last (as of this writing, ie a batch to be started uploading after this video goes live) appointment, when lo and behold a familiar name showed up. Uh, then I did a little digging and found out that THIS guy "LACKYE SATURN" is not the same guy as the "LackyeSaturn" on YouTube I've played with in both this game and Tatsunoko vs. Capcom. I'm sure there's a story there about the duplicate names and whatnot, but I could only actually hope to offer idle speculation on that topic. As I was playing, I noticed the fact that I'd spent quite a while in singles battles, so I started playing a lot on the Two Man Squad. I think maybe I overdid it between this segment of the matches and the third and final part that's to come. That's okay, though... I need to improve at getting a good feel for the unique rhythm and pacing of a doubles match, which is as quick and overwhelming compared to regular singles fighting as the battles in the Clash of Ninja series are compared to most other fighting games where you *don't* have people disappearing and reappearing and backstabbing each other all the time. That's not to say that it's without hope, you just need to train your ninja reflexes and pick up on the very subtle cues as to what's going on at each moment...and I mean very subtle...not at all like vs. Capcom team-based fighting where nearly every action taking place is blown up to massively over-amped proportions...this just happens to be entertaining in a more subdued fashion, making for a rather mentally stimulating exercise...or a breakdown, because you blinked and suddenly your squad is already wiped out. --- Match #1 -- Hidden Leaf Village: Main Gate Shino Aburame (Ms. Mutou) vs. Yugao Uzuki (RINTOO-CHAN) I'm finding that Shino is a really fun "jerk" character to play as, because his chakra-devouring insect friends do just that...they nibble away at your opponent's chakra meter with every hit you land using them.
