The Shilos - You're leaving Sunday (Chuck Howard). The Shilos were a bar band that played local clubs in Columbus Ohio. Recorded on the Sure Label, 1965 Jeff Pharion did lead vocals. The band later changed their name to Four Winds. Both sides of this rare record were written by local legend Chuck Howard. Chuck Howard was born in Flat Fork, Ky. His early professional career was tied into the Columbus & Cincinatti area music scene.. + Informações

Chuck Zito stopped by to promote his show tonight on Howard101 at 7pm ET, and Howard immediately asked why Chuck shaved his mustache. Chuck said he grew the Fu Manchu for a role, but he's since shaved it for another role: "A lot of people told me it made me look younger, [which got me] thinking about growing a full beard." True to form, Chuck told a story about being annoyed by a dinner date's rude/constant text-messaging habits. Chuck said she went for a smoke in the middle of the meal, and when he went out to find her, he found her talking with some dude. Chuck nearly punched the guy out: "He was twice my size. The least he could've done was take a swing at me." Unfortunately, the guy backed off and Chuck ended the evening without administering a "beatdown.". + Informações

Chuck Zito stopped by unannounced, and Howard wondered what he thought about the news of his friend, Pam Anderson, getting engaged to Kid Rock. Chuck admitted he was surprised by Pam's plans, and that he wasn't invited to the wedding. After Chuck reported he used to "want" Pam, Howard pointed out, if he were her, he would've chosen him over Kid due to his physique and macho behavior. Chuck brought up the time he was in jail and witnessed a man defecating and then going through his excrement to find the drugs he had swallowed in a balloon. Chuck added once the man snorted the drugs, he saw him put Vaseline on the balloon, and then insert it in his rear end.. + Informações

This project began as a way to get Hank III "on record" by pairing him with his father, Hank Jr. and his long-dead granddad, Hank Sr. Cute idea, and would not have meant much except that Hank III is a budding artist of exceptional promise, and Hank Jr. still has what it takes, and Hank Sr. is well, Hank Sr., and his songs are still great no matter who does what to them, and the producer, Chuck Howard, must be a genius. This album is so much fun to hear, and holds up well after repeated exposure. Wisely, the younger Hanks left Senior's greatest songs alone...they don't take a stab at "You Win Again" or "Cold Cold Heart" or "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry." They instead select "I Won't Be Home No More" and nail it in the best version I've ever heard. They also perform "I'll Never Get Out of This World Alive" and "Men With Broken Hearts", "Lost Highway" and "Never Again Will I Knock on Your Door" in killer renditions. Hank Jr. sings "Hand Me Down", a poignant song of his own about a note his father left him that he didn't discover until he was grown. Even if the song is not literally true, it is wonderfully done. This turned out to be a nice mixture of moods and tempos, and the voices of the three Hanks are just different enough.. + Informações
