Initially released for the Commodore 64 and Apple II, it was Lucasfilm's foray into publishing. The game follows teenager Dave Miller as he ventures into a mansion and attempts to rescue his girlfriend from an evil mad scientist, whose family has been controlled by a sentient meteor that crashed near the mansion 20 years earlier. The game was conceived in 1985 by Ron Gilbert and Gary Winnick, who based the story on horror film and B movie clichés with humorous elements. The pair based the game's characters on people they knew and characters from movies, comics, and horror magazines. The developers based the mansion's design on the Main House at Skywalker Ranch, outlining the map and pathways prior to programming. In Maniac Mansion, the player uses a point-and-click interface to guide Dave and two of his friends through the mansion, avoiding its dangerous inhabitants and solving puzzles. www.reit.com Slow growth is the expectation of Chris Grigg, chief executive for British Land (LSE BLND), when it comes to the UK economy and commercial property market. "In terms of the property markets, increasingly we see strong signs of polarization," Grigg said during the European Public Real Estate Association's annual conference in London in early September. "The best real estate has a very good bid to it. Anything that doesn't have strong income supporting it or isn't in an area that people really believe in, there could be some fall in value." Looking at British Land's target markets, UK office and retail, he said those sectors are also seeing a have and have-not scenario taking place. "There is a shortage of office space in the West End and in the city of London," Grigg said. "Outside of London it is going to be tough because the economic activity is not so great. And there are some signs of excess supply in regional offices." Grigg said he continues to see good leasing activity and good investment interest in high-quality retail assets, but not so much in second-tier retail assets. I never actually played Maniac Mansion when it originally came out, but in 1993 when playing its sequel Day of the Tentacle. You see, when you use a certain Commodore 64 in the game, it actually boots up the original Maniac Mansion which is pretty awesome since you get two games for the price of one! Maniac Mansion had surprisingly funky music considering its raw 8-bit sound - which goes to show how talented the composers were (Chris Grigg and David Lawrence I believe). My personal favourite is Flashbulb Funk (Michael's Theme) although there are a couple of other good ones too, including the main theme. Here it is in all its 8-bit glory.. + Informações
