Charlie Gracie Fabulous 1.80 min. | 4.5454545 avaliação | 14723 exibições He was the first Philly native to break out nationally and internationally at the start of the Rock 'N' Roll era. He was the first artist on the Cameo-Parkway Record label to have hits, bankrolling the company, thus enabling it to launch the careers of a dozen successful artists. He was the first solo American Rock 'N' Roll star to bring the music to the British concert stage. Paul McCartney, Van Morrison, Graham Nash and Ray Davies are among his biggest musical admirers. The late George Harrison called his guitar technique "Brilliant!" He continues to be a great musical ambassador for Philadelphia, performing the roots of Rock 'N' Roll all over the world. The 54 year career that hasn't ended yet! He's Charlie Gracie... He's fabulous! "Fabulous" Documentary DVD available at: www.characterdrivenfilms.com. + Informações |

Charlie Gracie - W-Wow 2.28 min. | 5.0 avaliação | 1345 exibições In 1961 after he was blacklisted by the music industry for taking a stand against record companies that would not pay proper royalties, Charlie Gracie found himself signed to Felsted records for this one-off single that went absolutely nowhere. On the top side, Charlie finds himself goofing around in the studio with a song where he makes an attempt to sound like Porky Pig (and does a really good job at it, too). The flip side (Makin' Whoopee) should've been what the record company was plugging as it had what it took to become a hit in 1961 but unfortunately it was not meant to be. Charlie Gracie still performs several shows a year all around the world and is known as a major influence on British musicians from the 1960's as well as other singers from Philadelphia who came after him. Cameo Parkway records stayed afloat at the beginning thanks to Charlie's first monster smash for them which allowed them to bring on other talent as well. Charlie is still putting out new music these days, even working with some of the musicians he influenced over 50 years ago. With a record such as this one, you just know he had to be having a lot of fun in the studio even if he wasn't having hits anymore. You can hear great records like this one live every night on www.topshelfoldies.org!. + Informações |
