After the ball waltz (accordion) 3.58 min. | 5.0 avaliação | 1668 exibições Here's a piece that rarely get mentioned today. It was composed by Charles K. Harris in 1891. It was a smashing hit in the 1893 wolrd Exhibition in Chicago playing locally 24 hrs a day for the length of the exhibition and selling in excess of five million copies (which in that period of time was of course utterly remarcable). The piece is a very slow waltz, as slow as you can imagine people being in the early hours after a ball, feet aching, too much to drink and tiredness overtaking, but still the night has very subtly left these warm memories the participants will never forget. I infact might be playing it too fast.. + Informações |

The Last Waltz - Sung for you by Brian K Harris 3.37 min. | 5.0 avaliação | 19 exibições The Last Waltz was a concert by the rock group The Band, held on American Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 1976, at Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco. The Last Waltz was advertised as the end of The Band's illustrious touring career,[1] and the concert saw The Band joined by more than a dozen special guests, including Paul Butterfield, Eric Clapton, Neil Diamond, Bob Dylan, Emmylou Harris, Ronnie Hawkins, Dr. John, Joni Mitchell, Van Morrison, Ringo Starr, Muddy Waters, Ronnie Wood, Bobby Charles and Neil Young. The musical director for the concert was The Band's original record producer, John Simon. The event was filmed by director Martin Scorsese and made into a documentary of the same name, released in 1978. The film features concert performances, scenes shot on a studio soundstage and interviews by Scorsese with members of The Band. A triple-LP soundtrack recording, produced by Simon and Rob Fraboni, was issued in 1978. The film was released on DVD in 2002 as was a four-CD box set of the concert and related studio recordings. The Last Waltz is hailed as one of the greatest concert films ever made,[2] although it has been criticized for its focus on Robbie Robertson. + Informações |

After The Ball (CK Harris), waltz on solo Embergher mandolin 1.22 min. | 0 avaliação | 222 exibições This waltz, written in 1891 by Charles K Harris (1867-1930) was the biggest hit of the late Victorian era, and according to Wikipedia the highest selling piece of sheet music in the history of Tin Pan Alley with over five million sales. A simple pleasant waltz, there isn't much to this arrangement other than the tune, but it's fun (and easy) to play and sounds good. Played on my 1915 Luigi Embergher Tipo A bowlback mandolin -- I would guess not the first time that this mandolin (or its sisters) was used for this tune!. + Informações |

After the ball is over 1.25 min. | 5.0 avaliação | 4043 exibições I have been taken by the quote that "Modern man tries to solve all his problems by logic and thinking whereas primitive man tries to solve all his problems by dancing" You have your rain dances, fertility dances, war dances... the list just goes on. But in the world of music the dance floor is usually a place of heartache rather than joy. Consider the "Tennessee Waltz" where the loved one is stolen away. After the Ball is a popular song written in 1891 by Charles K. Harris. The song is a classic waltz in 3/4 time. In the song, an older man tells his niece why he has never married. He saw his sweetheart kissing another man at a ball, and he refused to listen to her explanation. Many years later, after the woman had died, he discovered that the man was her brother. "After the Ball" became the most successful song of its era which at that time was gauged by the sales of sheet music. In 1892 it sold over two million copies of sheet music. Its total sheet music sales exceed five million copies, making it the best seller in Tin Pan Alley's history. After the ball is over, after the break of morn, After the dancers leaving, after the stars are gone, Many a heart is aching, if you could read them all, Many the hopes that have vanished, after the ball. Listen to the whole song by Frances Black here www.youtube.com Complete lyrics and chords to be found at tis link www.traditionalmusic.co.uk. + Informações |

THE GIVER by Ron Dultz 2.52 min. | 0 avaliação | 226 exibições Ron Dultz Writings Channel. This is an educational, not for profit video. Poem by Ron Dultz. Music: Hello Central, Give Me Heaven by Charles K. Harris, 1901; Midi file: courtesy of Benjamin R. Tubb, Public Domain Music, www.pdmusic.org. This poem asks people to be good to genuine Givers, whose generosity and selflessness may cause them to deprive themseleves of needed sustenance. There are stories throughout history of people ? like Florence Nightingale and Mother Teresa ? who gave all they had, perhaps too much, to ease the suffering of others. We should make an extra effort to give those individuals our love and support.. + Informações |
