The first time most of the world heard the voice of General Norman Johnson he was singing these words "You take some music, sweet-flowing music, some moving and groovin', rock and roll, it will stand" from The Showmen's 1961 legendary rock suite, "It Will Stand". General Johnson passed away this past Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2010, and it would have been more appropriate had he died on a "Tuesday" since as he said singing lead with the Chairmen Of The Board in September of 1970, "Everything's Tuesday".. + Informações

General Johnson was lead singer with The Showmen and later with the chart-busting Chairmen Of The Board. He was also an exceptional songwriter, penning and originally recording "Patches" (the huge Clarence Carter hit), "Want Ads" for Honeycone, and the Grammy-nominated "Somebody's been sleeping in my bed" by 100 Proof Aged In Soul - among a slew of Chairmen Of The Board songs, most notably "Pay to the piper". He also produced two excellent solo LPs. General Johnson's legacy is truly formidable and his recent passing will surely be a monumental loss to soul lovers the world over.
