There Is A Green Hill Far Away - King's College, Cambridge. 2.35 min. | 4.968254 avaliação | 40000 exibições The choir of King's College, Cambridge sing the lovely Easter hymn, There IS A Green Hill Far Away. Mrs Cecil Frances Alexander wrote this hymn as she sat up one night with her seriously sick daughter. Many times, traveling to town to shop, she had passed a small grassy mound, just outside the old city wall of Derry, Ireland. It always made her think of Calvary, and it came to mind as she wrote this hymn. Music by William Horsley. There is a green hill far away, without a city wall, where our dear Lord was crucified who died to save us all. We may not know, we cannot tell, what pains he had to bear, but we believe it was for us he hung and suffered there. He died that we might be forgiven, he died to make us good, that we might go at last to heaven, saved by his precious blood. There was no other good enough to pay the price of sin, he only could unlock the gate of heaven and let us in. O dearly, dearly has he loved! And we must love him too, and trust in his redeeming blood, and try his works to do.. + Informações |

St. Patrick's Breastplate 4.82 min. | 5.0 avaliação | 1569 exibições Saint Patrick's Breastplate is a Christian hymn whose original Old Irish lyrics were traditionally attributed to Saint Patrick. The words were translated into English verse by Cecil Frances Alexander in 1889 and set to two traditional Irish tunes, "St. Patrick" and "Deirdre".The hymn, also known by its opening line "I bind unto myself today", is currently included in the English Hymnal, the Irish Church Hymnal and The Hymnal (1982) of the US Episcopal Church. It is often sung during the celebration of the Feast of Saint Patrick on or near March 17, as well as on Trinity Sunday. The pictures show the architectural history of St Patrick's (RC) Cathedral, Armagh which was begun under the primacy of Archbishop Crolly in 1839; changed in style under Archbishop Dixon; completed externally under Archbishop McGettigan; adorned internally in 1904 by Cardinal Logue; brutally re-ordered under Cardinal O'Faich in 1982 and re-interpreted and restored under Cardinal Brady in 2003.. + Informações |

There Is A Green Hill Far Away 2.42 min. | 4.7884617 avaliação | 63779 exibições Mrs Cecil Frances Alexander (1818-1895) was only twenty years old when she composed the beautiful words of the hymn There is a green hill, a work of exquisite purity and tenderness of youth. Her inspiration is said to have come from a large grass-covered mound just outside her home town of Londonderry which put her in mind of the hill in the Holy Land, beyond Jerusalem's gates, 'where our dear Lord was crucified'. During her lifetime, Mrs Alexander wrote over four hundred hymns including Once in Royal David's City and All things bright and beautiful, two hymns which have remained extremely popular with adults and children alike. The tune 'Horsley' was named after its composer, William Horsley (1774-1858), a London-born organist and composer who was one of the founders of the Philharmonic Society in London (1813). The flowing melody and simple harmonies of his hymn tune complement perfectly the fresh simplicity of Mrs Alexander's poetry.. + Informações |

Once in Royal David's City (King's College Choir) 4.70 min. | 4.714286 avaliação | 20406 exibições Disclaimer: I do not own this! Once In Royal David's City is a Christmas carol, which was originally a poem written by Cecil Frances Alexander, who in 1848 married an Anglican clergyman, and in 1867, upon her husband's consecration, thereby became a bishop's wife. History [edit]Origins Once In Royal David's City was published in 1848 in Miss Cecil Humphreys' hymnbook Hymns for little Children. A year later, HJ Gauntlett discovered the poem and set it to music. [edit]Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols Since 1919, the King's College Chapel (King's College, Cambridge) has begun its Christmas Eve service, the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols, with "Once in Royal David's City" as the processional. The first verse is sung by a boy chorister of the Choir of King's Chapel as a solo. The second verse is sung by the choir, and the congregation joins in the third verse. Excluding the first verse, the hymn is accompanied by the organ. The arrangement, by AH Mann, is slightly different in harmony from the setting in Hymns Ancient and Modern. As the service is broadcast live on the BBC World Service, it is estimated[by whom?] that there are millions of listeners worldwide who tune in to this service. [edit]"The City" The city that the song speaks of is Bethlehem, which the New Testament records as the historical birthplace of Jesus and also of his ancestor King David. MINISTERIO DE LOUVOR CRISTO VIVE MATÃO 10.13 min.

"Forgive them, O my Father,/ They know not what they do:"/ The Saviour spake in anguish,/ As the sharp nails went through. 2. No pained reproaches gave he/ To them that shed his Blood,/ But prayer and tenderest pity/ Large as the love of God. 3. For me was that compassion,/ For me that tender care;/ I need his wide forgiveness/ As much as any there. 4. It was my pride and hardness/ That hung him on the Tree;/ Those cruel nails, O Saviour,/ Were driven in by me. 5. And often I have slighted/ Thy gentle voice that chid;/ Forgive me too, Lord Jesus;/ I knew not what I did. 6. O depth of sweet compassion!/ O love divine and true!/ Save thou the souls that slight thee,/ And know not what they do./ Amen. Words: Cecil Frances Alexander. Music: Harold Arthur Jeboult. Once in Royal David's City Hymn (Piano) 2.55 min. | 0 avaliação | 2179 exibições Instrumental Hymn with onscreen lyrics added Once in royal David's city, stood a lowly cattle shed, where a mother laid her baby, in a manger for His bed; Mary was that mother mild, Jesus Christ, her little child. He came down to earth from heaven, who is God and Lord of all, and His shelter was a stable, and His cradle was a stall; with the poor, and mean, and lowly, lived on earth our Savior holy. For He is our childhood's pattern; day by day, like us, He grew; he was little, weak, and helpless, tears and smiles, like us He knew; and He feeleth for our sadness, and he shareth in our gladness. And our eyes at last shall see Him, through His own redeeming love; for that Child so dear and gentle, is our Lord in heaven above; and He leads His children on, to the place where He is gone.
