Anything by Shawn Clement, Sean Murray ft Cari Howe 2.82 min. | 5.0 avaliação | 12988 exibições This song is from Surprise which is Season 2 Episode 13 of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. It's the song being played by the band at The Bronz when Drucila kills Angel in Buffys dream. I googled a bunch of Buffy/Angel wallpapers and made a slideshow so you would have some pretty to look at while you listen. Lyrics (as far as I know): Take me over, I'm lying down, I'm giving in to you. I'm a hurricane, I can't describe this feeling. Now that I've found this love, I'll do anything for you. Now that I've found this love. I'm a fire, burning like a house aflame. I am motionless, I can't move or see you fly. Now that I've found this love, I'll do anything for you. Now that I've found this love. Take me over, I'm lying down, I'm giving in. I'm a hurricane, Hurricane. Now that I've found this love, I'll do anything for you. There were some technical difficulties while making this so let me know if theres something wierd or it doesn't work.. + Informações |

Take me over 2.55 min. | 4.5555553 avaliação | 2701 exibições song: anything by cari howe (clement and murray) another experimental video for my fine art course. again i did some belly dancing, i projected my collages onto me and the wall this video is more flowing and vibrant, i guess thats the mind /emotional state i am at right now? its almost like i am underwater, a mermaid belly dancer! the song goes with the entire dance/ quadruple veil spinning- being like a hurricane and totally swept away with emotions. this is dedicated to someone... total contrast to the first experimental dance video which was harsh, angry and a rebellion. i could not have made this without Jen, Holly and Phil. + Informações |

CIA Archives: Desegregation and the American Civil Rights Movement Documentary Film (1957) 52.70 min. | 4.5471697 avaliação | 38122 exibições thefilmarchive.org Desegregation is the process of ending the separation of two groups usually referring to races. This is most commonly used in reference to the United States. Desegregation was long a focus of the American Civil Rights Movement, both before and after the United States Supreme Court's decision in Brown v. Board of Education, particularly desegregation of the school systems and the military. Racial integration of society was a closely related goal. The African-American Civil Rights Movement (1955--1968) refers to the movements in the United States aimed at outlawing racial discrimination against African Americans and restoring voting rights in Southern states. This article covers the phase of the movement between 1954 and 1968, particularly in the South. By 1966, the emergence of the Black Power Movement, which lasted roughly from 1966 to 1975, enlarged the aims of the Civil Rights Movement to include racial dignity, economic and political self-sufficiency, and freedom from oppression by white Americans. The movement was characterized by major campaigns of civil resistance. During the period 1955--1968, acts of nonviolent protest and civil disobedience produced crisis situations between activists and government authorities. Federal, state, and local governments, businesses, and communities often had to respond immediately to crisis situations that highlighted the inequities faced by African Americans. Forms of protest and/or civil disobedience included .... + Informações |

The North Star: Anne Baxter, Dana Andrews, Walter Huston, and Walter Brennan (1943 Movie) 105.62 min. | 4.2774196 avaliação | 204616 exibições DVD: www.amazon.com thefilmarchived.blogspot.com The North Star (also known as Armored Attack in the US) is a 1943 war film produced and distributed by RKO Radio Pictures. It was directed by Lewis Milestone and written by Lillian Hellman. The film starred Anne Baxter, Dana Andrews, Walter Huston, Walter Brennan and Erich von Stroheim. The music was written by Aaron Copland, the lyrics by Ira Gershwin, and the cinematography was by James Wong Howe. The film also marked the debut of Farley Granger. The film is about the resistance of Ukrainian villagers, through guerrilla tactics, against the German invaders of Ukraine. The film was an unabashedly pro-Soviet propaganda film at the height of the war. In the 1950s it was criticised for this reason and it was recut to remove the idealized portrayal of Soviet collective farms at the beginning and to include references to the 1956 Hungarian Uprising. In June 1941 Ukrainian villagers are living in peace. As the schools break up for vacation, a group of friends decide to travel to Kiev for a holiday. To their horror they find themselves attacked by German aircraft, part of the Nazi invasion of the Soviet Union. Eventually their village itself is occupied by the Nazis. Meanwhile men and women take to the hills to form partisan militias. The full brutality of the Nazis is revealed when a German doctor (Erich von Stroheim) uses the village children as a source of blood for transfusions into wounded German soldiers. Some children lose .... + Informações |

Korean War Atrocities: Interviews with Prisoners of War Documentary Film 25.97 min. | 3.857143 avaliação | 43188 exibições thefilmarchive.org DVD: www.amazon.com The US reported that North Korea mistreated prisoners of war: soldiers were beaten, starved, put to forced labor, marched to death, and summarily executed. The KPA killed POWs at the battles for Hill 312, Hill 303, the Pusan Perimeter, and Daejeon?discovered during early after-battle mop-up actions by the UN forces. Later, a US Congress war crimes investigation, the United States Senate Subcommittee on Korean War Atrocities of the Permanent Subcommittee of the Investigations of the Committee on Government Operations reported that "... two-thirds of all American prisoners of war in Korea died as a result of war crimes." Although the Chinese rarely executed prisoners like their Korean counterparts, mass starvation and diseases swept through the Chinese run POW camps during the winter of 1950--51. About 43 percent of all US POWs died during this period. The Chinese defended their actions by stating that all Chinese soldiers during this period were suffering mass starvation and diseases due to the lack of competent logistics system. The UN POWs, however, disputed the claim by pointing out that most of the Chinese camps were located near the easily supplied Sino-Korean border, and that starvation was used to force the prisoners to accept the communism indoctrinations programs, which were running in full swing after the starvation was over. The North Korean Government reported some 70000 ROK Army POWs; 8000 were repatriated. South Korea .... + Informações |

Bush on Tuesday, January 23, 2007, at 9:13 PM EST. The speech was given in front of a joint session of Congress, presided over by Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi and Vice President Dick Cheney in his capacity as President of the Senate. It was the first address to a Democratic-controlled Congress since 1994. Furthermore, the speech marked the second time that a Democrat sat behind President Bush during a joint session of Congress and the first time at a State of the Union address. Traditionally, the Speaker of the House and the Vice President (the President of the Senate) are the only individuals on the rostrum with the President. However, in a joint session of Congress on September 20, 2001, following the September 11 attacks nine days earlier, president pro tempore Robert Byrd, a Democrat, took the place of Vice President Cheney, who was at an undisclosed location. As the first female Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi is also the first woman in American history to stand on the podium during a State of the Union address. President Bush began his address by recognizing new House Speaker Nancy Pelosi: "And tonight I have a high privilege and distinct honor of my own as the first president to begin the State of the Union message with these words: Madam Speaker." Attorney General Alberto Gonzales was not present because .... + Informações |

The Jackie Robinson Story: Ruby Dee, Minor Watson, Pat Flaherty (1950 Biography Movie) 76.83 min. | 4.4871793 avaliação | 58413 exibições DVD: www.amazon.com thefilmarchive.org The Jackie Robinson Story is a 1950 biographical film starring baseball legend Jackie Robinson as himself. The film focuses on Robinson's struggle with the abuse of racist bigots as he becomes the first African American Major League Baseball player of the modern era. Even during its release in the era of racial segregation, the film received critical praise and fared well at the box office. The film begins with Robinson as a child, being given a worn-out baseball glove by a stranger impressed by his fielding skills. As a young man, he becomes a multi-sport star at the University of California, Los Angeles, but as he nears graduation, he worries about his future. His older brother Mack was also an outstanding college athlete and graduate, but the only job he could get was that of a lowly street cleaner. When America enters World War II, Robinson is drafted, serving as an athletic director. Afterward, he plays baseball with a professional African-American team. However, the constant travel keeps him away from his college sweetheart, Rae. Then one day, Brooklyn Dodgers scout Clyde Sukeforth invites him to meet Branch Rickey, president of the Major League Baseball team. At first, Robinson considers the offer to be a practical joke, as there are no African Americans allowed in the segregated major leagues. When he is convinced that the opportunity is genuine, he and Rickey size each other up. After thinking over Rickey's warning about the .... + Informações |

Lana Turner, Ezio Pinza and Debbie Reynolds in Mr. Imperium (1951 Movie) 86.50 min. | 4.3432837 avaliação | 84039 exibições DVD: www.amazon.com thefilmarchive.org Mr. Imperium (UK title: You Belong to My Heart) is a 1951 romantic drama film made by MGM. It was directed by Don Hartman who co-wrote screenplay with Edwin H. Knopf, based on play by Edwin H. Knopf. The music score is by Bronis?aw Kaper. One event in the film that slipped by un-noticed was when Lana Turner (at her own insistence and after an argument with the director) introduced "The Guadalajara Trio" by name, although they were not listed in the screen credits. In the manner of the way that Latino actors and musicians were often treated, they were also omitted from the credits of several other films like 'My Friend Irma Goes West" with Dean Martin & Jerry Lewis even though they did several beautiful songs. Cast Lana Turner as Fredda Barlo Ezio Pinza as Mr. Imperium Marjorie Main as Mrs. Cabot Barry Sullivan as Paul Hunter Cedric Hardwicke as Bernand Debbie Reynolds as Gwen Ann Codee as Anna Pelan The Guadalajara Trio (Francisco, Luis, Joseph) as Themselves Lana Turner (February 8, 1921 -- June 29, 1995) was an American actress. Discovered and signed to a film contract by MGM at the age of sixteen, Turner first attracted attention in They Won't Forget (1937). She played featured roles, often as the ingenue, in such films as Love Finds Andy Hardy (1938). During the early 1940s she established herself as a leading actress in such films as Johnny Eager (1941), Ziegfeld Girl (1941) and Somewhere I'll Find You (1942). She is known as .... + Informações |
