LINK: tinyurl.com Keyboardist/arranger "Captain" Daryl Dragon and his wife, singer/pianist Toni Tennille, scored a series of pop/rock hits in a light, romantic vein in the second half of the 1970s, the most successful of which was the first, "Love Will Keep Us Together." The couple met in the summer of 1971, when Dragon was engaged as the keyboard player for a musical revue, Mother Earth, composed by Tennille. Dragon, born August 27, 1942, in Los Angeles, was the son of conductor Carmen Dragon; his mother was a singer. He studied piano while growing up and briefly attended California State University at Northridge before dropping out to form an instrumental jazz trio with his brothers called the Dragons. The group released the single "Elephant Stomp"/"Troll" on Capitol Records in 1964, but its style was out of step with labelmates the Beatles, who dominated popular music at the time. In 1967, Dragon became a touring backup musician for the Beach Boys. He was dubbed "Captain Keyboard" by lead singer Mike Love because he always appeared on-stage in a yachting cap. In addition to touring with the Beach Boys, Dragon appeared on their albums of the period, including Sunflower and Holland, and he was billed as Rumbo on a British single released in 1970, "Sound of Free"/"Lady," credited to the Beach Boys .... + Informações

from the ABC-TV show "kids are people too". 11 year old Brad Laner (Medicine/Electric Company/Savage Republic) on bass. from toni tennille's blog : In the late 1970s, BRUCE JOHNSTON and the late CARL WILSON of the Beach Boys, JOHN JOYCE, an LA studio singer, and I occasionally sang together as a background quartet for recording sessions. It didn't happen often, because all of our schedules were very busy, but you can hear our work on a few notable recordings.... listen carefully to Elton John's DON'T LET THE SUN GO DOWN ON ME and you might be able to pick out my voice in the background vocals. - When constructing the harmonies we sang, we usually placed my voice in the center of the chord. My voice is in the male tenor range, and is very distinctive. The whole point of background harmonies is to have a seamless sound and vocally perfect blend. My voice stood out less, and blended better with the other voices if it were placed in the middle. - One day in late 1979, Bruce called me and asked if I would be interested in doing a background session for the famous rock group PINK FLOYD. They were in LA, working on a new album, and needed some background work. To be honest with you, although I had heard their name, I wasn't at all familiar with their music, but I ALWAYS keep an open mind musically, and I thought it would be really interesting to see how the "other half" works in a recording session.
