Del Shannon was an American rock and roll singer-songwriter who had a No. 1 hit, "Runaway", in 1961. Shannon followed with "Hats Off to Larry". After these hits, Shannon was unable to keep his momentum in the US, but continued his success in England, where he had always been more popular. In 1963, he became the first American to record a cover version of a Beatles song. "From Me to You" charted in the US before the Beatles. Shannon was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame after his death in 1999, and his contributions have been recognized by the Rockabilly Hall of Fame. Buzz Clifford was an American pop singer and songwriter. After serving in the National Guard, Clifford moved to Los Angeles, California and found work as a songwriter, writing tunes sung by Keith Barbour, Petula Clark, Clyde McPhatter, Lou Rawls, Leon Russell, and Kris Kristofferson. Later in the 1960s, he was involved with a band called Carp (including actor Gary Busey and songwriter Danny Moore), who released one album on Epic Records in 1969. He also did recording sessions in Tulsa, Oklahoma with former Beach Boy David Marks, but these were never issued.. + Informações |
