Patrice performs " I Know That My Redeemer Liveth" from Messiah at a Masterclass with her teacher Stella Zamballis. Patrice is presently studying in a Master's in Voice Performance at USF in Tampa. Stella Zambalis is teaching her voice and presently Patrice is working on roles that suit her "Fach" which is a lyric Soprano and her voice suits Puccini roles. Patrice and her husband Keith will be performing in January at a Joint Recital where Patrice will sing from Madame Butterfly, Tosca and La Boheme. Patrice is learning from her teacher Stella Zambolis how to have a technique that just won't quit and also to have wonderful pianissimo high notes. December 8, 2009 Patrice will be performing Messiah Soprano solos with Orchestra with her husband Keith Rasmussen conducting. The life of a salmon begins when its mother lays her eggs in a stream. The first food of the young salmon is the special nutrient sack in the egg. A few weeks later, they are big enough to find food for themselves in the stream. As they continue to grow, they spend about a year in the stream. Salmon have been created with a system that allows them to live both in fresh and salt water. The reason for this is hidden in the miraculous journey that the salmon will make. On a spring morning, thousands of salmon begin to migrate down the river. The place where they will arrive weeks later is the magnificent Pacific Ocean. As soon as they arrive at the ocean, a genetic mechanism in the salmon causes a change in the make-up of their bodies enabling them to live in salt water. In the next one to four years they will traverse the ocean. Leaving the American coast, they will pass by Alaska, continue in a great arc in the direction of Japan and return again. At the end of their journey, they are mature and ready for the final and most difficult journey of their lives. They will return to their home: that is, to the stream where they were born. THE BACK STORY: It was April of 2001 and I was down in Muskogee, Oklahoma with my new film 'Track 16', for a small but (what would turn out to be) fun film festival. It's called 'The Bare Bones Film Festival' and it's for lower budget films -- and since that is what I make, I've been there three times now. I have been to lots of fests, and while the 'Bare Bones' is far from the biggest, the people who run it have great hearts and are in it for the right reasons -- they simply love films (and even more so, independent films!). Billy had arrived from London to my home in New Jersey a few days earlier and then we had flown down to Tulsa and driven to Muskogee. We met the folks who ran the fest (Oscar and Shiron) as well as another festival attendee (and fellow Northeasterner) Jessica Sharzer. I mention her for two reasons. The first being that shortly after we met her she won an actual Oscar for her short student film 'The Wormhole'. Which is just very cool on her part. And even more importantly (and tied to this story) is that she also ended up lending me her DV camera so we could make this video. "Silly girl!" Some of you might say (after all, this is towards the start of DV tape/cameras -- they were not cheap!) But, I guess she felt 'trusting' enough to hand over her camera to two dudes she had never met because by the time we had gotten to the fest, she had been there a few days and was going a bit 'stir crazy' in Muskogee (in the early days of the fest they hadn't .... + Informações
