Burnout 3: Takedown (PS2) - Location: USA - Track Name: Silver Lake Burnout 3 introduces a large amount of new events to the mix but does away with Pursuit mode. It is replaced by Burning Lap, Eliminator and Road Rage. World Tour mode now replaces Championship and is split into either Race Mode or Crash Mode. Before play starts, players choose their vehicle based on its speed and weight. In the race modes, the player gains "boost" by driving in the oncoming traffic lanes, narrowly avoiding traffic, drifting around bends, getting air time, and by causing competitors' cars to crash (called a "Takedown"). In "Race" mode, the object is to win the race around the track like a standard racing game, while in the "Road Rage" mode, the player must takedown a set number of computer-controlled opponents. In the crash mode, the player is not racing opponents on a track. Instead, in each crash attempt, the player races at high speeds towards an intersection and tries to do as much monetary damage to the vehicles there as possible, while collecting cash and multiplier bonuses. The three crash modes are very similar. In some, you drive alone, in others you crash as a team with a combined score, etc., but the goal of doing the most damage remains the same. In any mode, medals are awarded for achieving certain scores. These medals are used to unlock hidden tracks and vehicles. Burnout 3 features 173 different events in the offline mode, and 67 cars to unlock, including a City Bus, Truck .... + Informações

Why I didn't use the newer Burnout Revenge for this video? Because I like Burnout 3 better. It's more of an arcade racer then Burnout Revenge. With Burnout 3 online being switched off by Microsoft (along with Xbox Live for all original xbox games and consoles) nights like this are strictly limited. So I've recorded some races for posterity and here are some highlights. The racing/battling is always great but the chat is a huge part of why it's so good too. This could have been any random night of B3 since 2004. A couple of interesting points - At 3:50 see my score doesn't go up 2000 points and I don't get a takedown, yet Max is eliminated. So he was eliminated by Chronic's Hot Rod on the Blue Team. (He was not damage critical either this was his 1st crash) At 4:15 even though we crash at the same place, my car flys across the ravine and respawns over 0.2 miles ahead. Normally one car crashing lets the other gain 0.3 miles in 5 seconds, so this crash is almost a shortcut. At 4:45 a Triple Takedown is extremely rare online. Max says he once got a Total Takedown which is a simultaneous takedown on all 5 other people. He's had a few 4-way Takedowns and many Triples thanks to the Modified Super and his mastery of it. At 5:30 having backed off a takedown attempt to negotiate the tricky part, Chronic's crash up ahead causes a UPS delivery truck to hit the gas and essentially get a takedown on Bond who had come to a stop. At 6:18 If the Blue Team is damage critical and crashes out then the elimination only happens after they respawn. Schon 2005 erschien dann der Nachfolger "Burnout Revenge", der das Erfolgsrezept von Teil 3 weiter behandelte, jedoch um Kleinigkeiten wie Crashbreaker, den Chassis-Takedown sowie den speziellen Fokus auf Rache (daher der Titel) erweitert wurde. Die Strecken wurden beeindruckender gestaltet, was jedoch auch leicht verwirrender wirkte. En passant de Akklaim à EA Games, la série Burnout développée par Criterion changea du tout au tout. Vous aurez bien sûr toujours le même principe de course intense dans le traffic, mais cette fois-ci avec une violence sans nom. Maintenant le mot d'ordre est le Takedown, vous allez devoir écraser de la tôle, pulvériser vos adversaires pour vous tracer un chemin jusqu'à la victoire. Et non, ça ne rigole pas... Mais par contre le joueur lui, s'il ne crise pas à cause de la difficulté du jeu, prendra un plaisir fou et beaucoup de fun au milieu de toutes ces musiques rock accompagnant parfaitement le jeu et des débris de carcasses fumées volant un peu partout.
