Me playing the original version of "Alt Lys Er Svunnet Hen" by Dimmu Borgir. I play a Schecter Stiletto Studio 5 (Elvira). Recorded through my Ampeg BA-115 and put together with Windows Movie Maker. I always play by ear, never tabs, so excuse any mistakes (there's plenty because I'm no Brynjard Tristan) and possible lag due to the Youtube uploader or crappy Windows Movie Maker. The band is the brainchild of Galder (formerly known as Grusom; birth name: Thomas Rune Andersen) who is the only permanent member of the band. Old Man's Child are rarely on tour to support their albums because of the constant line-up changes. In 1996, they signed to Century Media. With a world wide distribution through this label, they gained the attention of new fans around the world. This one is a pretty simple song. I didn't bother learning all of the little fills because I wanted to keep the rhythm going strong in the vid. I figured it out by ear tuned to D standard. It seems people have mixed opinions about this band, regarding the actual classification of their music of course, and their 'sell out' attitude of the last few years. After seeing them live (I think it was dec 12, '10 at the sound academy) they still put on a great show with an appealing setlist consisting of classic favourites , but the music definitely isn't a competitor for their older 'for all tid' era stuff. For what it's worth, stormblast was definitely a decent album apart from the few cases of plagiarism(magnum, tim wright) :( On that note I'll also be covering Sogens Krammer eventually as soon as I'm done transcribing it and learning the song.
