The game that marked the end of the Breath of Fire series due to poor sales. Capcom drastically changed the formula for this rpg,to saves being limited,to no inns,and discouraging use of Dragon Form because of the D-Counter. The D Counter shows up later in the game,it goes a little every time you walk,and it goes up a lot if you use Dragon Form. Reach 100%,and it's game over and start from the beginning of the game. But,this was my first BOF game,and I really enjoyed the challenge and style of this game,very unique. Well first things first, I filmed the first four episodes today, and after watching them I realized the game moves a little chippy choppy blocky laggy. (That should totally be one word) So hopefully it can be put up with for ~3 parts in which things may change dramatically or just stop. I'm rather disappointed from the getgo myself and thats not something I like. Anyway, on to the video... Breath of Fire is a great series and is oft overlooked. Capcom isn't really big into the RPG genre, but they decided to take a couple stabs at it with Final Fantasy doing so well, and when Square is helping you, its kind of a recipe for success. They're just the best in the business. The games aren't going to get a 10/10 on anyones board. They have some minor flaws like most games, but they certainly try a thing or two as well. The BoF series as a whole gets a knock for having a few too many "boring" segments but I'm not particularly in agreement with that... any adventure is going to have ups and downs, especially when you need to explore or play a role. Once you're involved with the game, a little slow part or two isn't going to make anyone stop playing, is it? Kids these days I tell ya... The game itself features quality game play, a story and mechanics that were pretty revolutionary at the time -- and henceforth became cliche and/or used as stepping stones for games today. Thanks for watching folks! Hopefully you enjoyed my Breath of Fire LP and decided to show up for the second one as well. Breath of Fire 2 came out for the SNES in America in December of 1995. I don't think it ever had widely popular sales or a huge fanbase like some other SNES RPGs of the time did (Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger, Super Mario RPG, etc) but the caliber of the game is right up there with them. Capcom and Square are responsible for the game, both very decorated companies... especially Square being known for producing nothing but the best in its RPGs. The game itself is quite arguably the best in the BoF series, and probably my personal favorite of them.... though 3 is very close. It features exactly what you'd expect out of Breath of Fire. Blue haired Ryu, hot winged Nina, and a great game to experience regardless of the year you play it in. This run will feature every ending, most every secret, and be essentially 100% -- though "true" 100% runs of RPGs are often bound to stupid things like maxing every inventory item, money, levels, get every enemy to drop everything they can, etc... think of it more as a complete play. Along with great visuals and gameplay, the story is great, the musical score is great, and the amount of fun we're going to have will be great.
