Tango français - Lucienne BOYER ! 3.33 min. | 4.886179 avaliação | 62170 exibições Lucienne Boyer (1901-1983) is reproaching: ?Ah, why do you lie ?!" , Lady-in-Blue, the most popular French lady singer in pre-war Poland. I find elegance and delicacy in her renditions, however, a little flame burning brightly underneath may be sensed, too (the present rendition !). Visited Warsaw in 1937 and gave concerts in the Great Theatre which happened 21 years later, again. Miss Boyer had a few tangos in her repertoire and it was not easy for me to make the final choice. A photo taken from "AS", 1937; was accompanying an interview given by the star for this popular Polish weekly magazine of those years.. + Informações |

Si petite (Taka mala) - Mira Zimi?ska vs Lucienne Boyer, 1960 3.53 min. | 5.0 avaliação | 10042 exibições Mira Zimi?ska - Taka mala (Si petite) (G.Claret / Marian Hemar), Pronit ca 1959/60 (Polska) NOTE: In 1933 Lucienne Boyer - la grande vedette of the XX century French song - recorded one more great hit of hers, a little sweet love-story chanson ?Si petite" (see my previous uploading). A few months later, in Warsaw, Marian Hemar - one of best prewar Polish poets and songtext writers - created a masterpiece: a murderous parody of Boyer's ?Si petite" - a song "Taka mala", where the heroine - that sweet & nice "si petite" little woman is described by her jealous friend. In the madly intelligent interpretation of Mira Zimi?ska - grande vedette of the Polish cabaret, for who the text was written - the ?Si petite" becomes a caricatural damsel from the prewar middle class of Warsaw, an impertinent "cow" (as her friend brutally describes her) who gossips in cafes over mountains of cookies, makes scenes from the morning to her cook and later to her husband - who is reluctant to buy her a new fur - and during a bridge party she openly cheats. The last stanza tells what is the guaranteed way to get rid of such "si petite" lover: finding something heavy and hitting her at her head. This song with the its witty, sharp, biting, sneering text of Marian Hemar, and the masterly Zimi?ska's creation, belong to the Platignum Five in the Treasury of the Polish cabaret. Unfortunately, Zim?iska who, considered herself more an actress than a singer - never recorded it before 1939. She repaired her .... + Informações |

W ciszy bez ko?ca, W bezkresnym mroku. Me serce wci?? pami?ta Jego p?omienne poca?unki, Szcz??liwe dni i szalone noce, Kiedy ko?ysana w jego upojnych ramionach, s?ucha?am boskich s?ów mi?o?ci, s?odszych ni? pieszczota. ...................................... I want to express great thanks to my friend Krystyna, who listening to this record made translation of the lyrics to Polish language, which was not so easy as the singer Lucienne Boyer performs the number in the maniere of early 1930s and the sound of the original 78 rpm schellac is quite special. I dared to translate to English (from the Polish version) the first verse of the lyrics: I am trailing my regret behind me Like a heavy, black train The one who was all my life Left me some day, In the evening like to-day Which is fading in the shade, In the endless silence, In the infinite darkness. Recorded by Lucienne Boyer in June 1933. Transfer from the Polish Columbia pressing. No .... + Informações |

Hands Across The Table - Lucienne Boyer (Columbia Royal Blue Wax)1934 HD 3.00 min. | 5.0 avaliação | 337 exibições Recorded November 2, 1934. She was born as Èmilienne-Henriette Boyer in the Montparnasse Quarter of (Paris. Her melodious voice gave her the chance, while working as a part-time model, she to sing in the cabarets of Montparnasse. An office position at a prominent Parisian theater opened the door for her and within a few years she was cast as Lucienne Boyer, singing in the major Parisian music halls. In 1927, Boyer sang at a concert by the great star Félix Mayol where she was seen by the American impresario Lee Shubert who immediately offered her a contract to come to Broadway. Boyer spent nine months in New York City, returning to perform there and to South America numerous times throughout the 1930s. By 1933 she had made a large number of recordings for Columbia Records of France including her signature song, " Parlez-moi d'amour".
