A preview of an ongoing photo documentary about a neighbourhood (barrio) in Guatemala. It could as well be anywhere in Central America... In the 2 month i spent with the people of this barrio, one boy aged 17 was gunned down with 12 bullets in a nearby city, 5 have been arrested randomly by the police charged with "public disorder" and put to jail in the capital. i have been there. they didn't do anything but sit outside. this is a result of the "mano dura" (iron fist) approach to tackle an alarming growth of violent street gangs, imported from gangland LA as a result of US deportation after peace treaties were signed in the central Americas. The boys in the hood are being taken care of by a lovely Guatemalan lady named Canche. They want to get out of a vicious circle but as poverty, lack of education, prevention- and rehab programs prevail, it is a major challenge. Most of them live on the streets, lost their parents or fled domestic violence. I have never played Street Fighter before, until I got a hold of Super Street Fighter IV on the 3DS, a great port, very faithful to the console game (Sure, the background was static, but that's just a minor crimp in an excellent port, and not important). Here we have a GBA version of the best versions of Street Fighter II, the Super/Turbo version, as I call it. This version is sadly not perfect, as there is one major flaw in the game - the dreaded AKUMA GLITCH. When you play through the game fulfilling the criteria needed for fighting Akuma, the game crashes when you reach him. This can lead to the time trial times getting glitched up, making them impossible to beat, to graphic corruption! This was not in the Japanese version. In this longplay, I play as Ryu through 10 opponents. And yes, I suck at this.
