In John's Gospel the words "born again" are more accurately translated "born from above". That is, not just "born again" but born of God. I have some more videos on my channel if you are interested.: The issue that Christianity focuses on is that of eternal life. To have eternal life one must be absolutely perfect. That is if God allowed people to be "mostly good" or "almost perfect" into heaven then there would be eternal evil in heaven. Another way of stating this problem would be to say that only the parts of a person that truly die to self will be allow to enter into Paradise. And that the parts of one being that don't submit will be burnt up. This is good that God can save at least a part of us but then the question is how can God save just part of us and we remain a whole person? The idea in Christianity is that Jesus is a kind of second Adam. Just as we all came from Adam because we were all once "in" Adam. So in Christianity we have the idea that the parts of us that submit to God are "in Christ". Now beyond time - Christ has entered heaven and we within him, But to enter into heaven as a whole person Christ must be absolutely perfect. And the only way that Christ could be absolutely perfect is if Christ were God. This is why Christian say Jesus is God.
