In 1995, when the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame opened its museum in Cleveland, Ohio, the MGs served as the house band for the opening all star concert. Steve Cropper has also been inducted in The Songwriters Hall of Fame. Booker T & The MG's were the house band for Stax, backing the singers on all those awesome records, and also had a fantastic career with they're own tunes, including Green Onions, Time Is Tight, and this, probably my fave. Its repetitive groove-oriented drumming, loping bass line, and super tight rhythm guitar made it an underground hit popular in New York City block parties. The song has often been sampled by rappers, techno DJs & mixmasters. The Beatles--and especially John Lennon were huge fans of the group.
