Montego Bay written by Bobby Bloom and Jeff Barry performed by Bobby Bloom released as L&R 157 in July 1970 Debuting on the Billboard's Bubbling Under charts 22 August 1970 (#108), this classic with its infectious ska rhythm would be studio singer Bobby Bloom's biggest hit, peaking at #8 on the Hot 100. The following year, he did manage to score one more minor hit with "Where Are We Going" (#84). Sadly, Bloom died on 28 February 1974, at the age of 28. Bloom did suffer from depression towards the end of his life. However, he apparently shot himself while cleaning his gun and his death was ruled an accident. Jeff Barry was surprised to find out afterwards that he was the sole beneficiary of Bloom's life insurance policy! He began writing and co-writing songs such as "Mony, Mony", which turned up as a hit for Tommy James & The Shondells. He also began writing TV commercials and then landed a his own album in 1970, simply called "The Bobby Bloom Album". Success was short for him as a second album failed at the charts. He began suffering depression and committed suicide in 1974. "We Need Each Other" remained a vinyl promo until 2001 until an Anthology CD was released. © 1971 MGM. + Informações
