Bob Lind (born Robert Neale Lind, in Baltimore, Ohio, November 25, 1942) was a folk music singer in the 1960s, who released one transatlantic chart hit single. That song was entitled "Elusive Butterfly", which was a #5 hit in 1966. Over 200 artists -- including Cher, Glen Campbell, Aretha Franklin, Dolly Parton, Eric Clapton, Nancy Sinatra, The Four Tops, Richie Havens, Hoyt Axton, and Petula Clark -- have covered songs written by Bob Lind, but as a recording artist, he remains a one-hit wonder. Lind retired from the music business in 1969 to pursue other interests. In more recent years he has resided in Florida and works as a writer. He is the author of five novels, and has written for such supermarket tabloids as the Weekly World News and the Sun. Lyrics: You might wake up some mornin' To the sound of something moving past your window in the wind And if you're quick enough to rise You'll catch a fleeting glimpse of someone's fading shadow Out on the new horizon You may see the floating motion of a distant pair of wings And if the sleep has left your ears You might hear footsteps running through an open meadow Don't be concerned .... + Informações |

Lind is best known for his transatlantic chart hit single, "Elusive Butterfly", which was a #5 hit in 1966. Lind signed a recording contract with Liberty Records' subsidiary, World Pacific Records, in 1965, and it was on that label that he had that particular hit. The single may have done even better in the UK Singles Chart had he not had competition from established British recording artist Val Doonican, who released a cover version of the song. In the end, both versions of "Elusive Butterfly" made #5 in the UK in the spring of 1966.[1] [2] Lind also wrote "Cheryl's Goin' Home", which was covered by Adam Faith. It was Faith's last British hit. LYRICS: (Bob Lind) You might wake up some mornin' To the sound of something moving past your window in the wind And if you're quick enough to rise You'll catch a fleeting glimpse of someone's fading shadow Out on the new horizon You may see the floating motion of a distant pair of wings And if the sleep has left your ears You might hear footsteps running through an open meadow Don't be concerned, it will not harm you It's only me pursuing somethin' I'm not sure of Across my dreams with nets of wonder I chase the bright elusive butterfly of love You might have heard my footsteps Echo softly in the distance through the canyons of your mind I might have even called your name As I ran searching after something to believe in You might have seen me runnin' Through the long-abandoned ruins of the dreams you left behind If you remember something there That glided past you followed close by heavy breathin' Don't be concerned, it will not harm you It's only me pursuing somethin' I'm not sure of Across my dreams with nets of wonder I chase the bright elusive butterfly of love [Instrumental Interlude] Across my dreams with nets of wonder I chase the bright elusive butterfly of love. + Informações |

Elusive Butterfly Bob Lind Cover 3.23 min. | 4.7391305 avaliação | 5266 exibições Bob Lind is a VERY underrated singer-songwriter. This song has always evoked thoughts of warm summer days in an open meadow to me, so I present it as a reminder of that loveliness on this last unofficial day of summer. This song has unfortunately proven somewhat prophetic, as both butterflies and love have become more elusive in our world as the years have passed.. Let's hope neither becomes extinct in our lifetimes. Peace to all, and onto fall-my favorite season!!. + Informações |

Elusive Butterfly -- Bob Lind (in HD) 2.93 min. | 5.0 avaliação | 2489 exibições "Elusive Butterfly" is a popular song by Bob Lind released in 1966, which reached Number 5 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song was also recorded and released in 1966 in the UK by the Irish singer Val Doonican. The Doonican and Lind versions both charted in the UK and both (first Doonican's version, then Lind's) peaked at No.5 in the UK charts in March/April 1966; it is possible the Lind version might have proved a bigger UK hit, had the rival Doonican version not been recorded and released. In America, the song was originally the B-side of 23-year-old Bob Lind's recording debut "Cheryl's Goin' Home," but this was flipped by a DJ on Florida radio station WQAM and this kickstarted the success of "Elusive Butterfly." "Cheryl's Goin' Home" was subsequently a minor British hit for UK pop singer Adam Faith in October 1966. The prominent string arrangement on Lind's "Elusive Butterfly" was by legendary Jack Nitzsche, known for his work with The Rolling Stones. With this song, Bob Lind gave World Pacific Records its one and only big hit. Bob Lind's debut album, "Don't Be Concerned," borrowed its title from a line in the song - "Don't be concerned, it will not harm you." Lind's solo career lost impetus after "Elusive Butterfly" and problems with drugs and alcohol made matters worse. Lind continues performing and touring, however, and over 200 artists have covered his songs. In the song the narrator sees himself as a butterfly hunter. He is looking for romance, but he finds it as .... + Informações |
