Emilius Wagemans (artiestennaam Bob Benny) (Sint-Niklaas, 28 mei 1926) is een Vlaams zanger en musicalster. Hij is vooral bekend van zijn hit Waar en wanneer.Bob Benny begon zijn carrière als zanger vlak na de Tweede Wereldoorlog. Hij trad toen op in een café aan de Grote Markt in Sint-Niklaas. In 1951 deed Benny auditie bij het NIR en mocht vervolgens optreden in het radioprogramma De Antenne Zingt. In die tijd neemt hij ook zijn eerste plaat op: Mijn hart spreekt tot u. In 1957 scoort hij zijn eerste grote hit met Cindy oh Cindy. Zijn artiestennaam koos Bob Benny toen hij nog bij het Metro Club Orkest zong. De leider van dat orkest heette Robert en daar leidde hij de naam Bob van af. Deze speelde klarinet in de stijl van Benny Goodman, dus koos hij Benny als zijn achternaam. In februari 1959 nam Bob Benny deel aan de voorrondes voor het Eurovisie Songfestival. In de finale won hij van zangeres Jo Leemans. Zodoende mocht hij België vertegenwoordigen op het Eurovisie Songfestival van 1959 in Cannes. Daar werd hij gedeeld zesde met zijn liedje Hou toch van mij. Tot op heden is dat de hoogst behaalde positie voor een Vlaamse inzending bij het Eurovisie Songfestival. In de Vlaamse hitlijst haalde het nummer de vierde plaats. Twee jaar later wint Bob Benny weer de voorronde voor het songfestival, met het liedje September, gouden roos. Emilius Wagemans, beter bekend als Bob Benny, is overleden na een lange ziekte. De Vlaamse zanger raakte vooral bekend dankzij zijn hit 'Waar en wanneer', op muziek van Johan Strauss. Hij werd 84 jaar. Benny vertegenwoordigde ons land twee maal op het Songfestival. In 1959 eindigde hij gedeeld zesde met het liedje 'Hou toch van mij'. Pas in 2010 slaagde Tom Dice er in dat Vlaamse record te evenaren. Benny speelde ook nog in verschillende musicals en operettes. In 2001 werd de artiest getroffen door een beroerte. Dimitrios (Jimmy) Makulis (Greek: ?????? ????????, born 12 April 1935, Athens - died 28 October 2007, Athens) was a Greek singer who had a successful career in German-speaking markets in the 1950s and 1960s, and is known for his participation on behalf of Austria in the 1961 Eurovision Song Contest. In 1961, Markulis was chosen internally by Austrian broadcaster ORF to represent the country with the song "Sehnsucht" ("Longing") in the sixth Eurovision Song Contest, held on 18 March in Cannes, France. This proved unsuccessful, as "Sehsnucht" picked up only one point, from the United Kingdom jury, and finished along with Belgium's Bob Benny in joint last place of the 16 entries.[2] "Sehnsucht" is one of very few Eurovision entries never to have been recorded by the performer.[3] Later career Makulis moved to the USA in 1965, and in following years lived and performed in Las Vegas.
