Back to 1974 with this great song. I've wanted to record this for the longest time just finally got around to doing it tonight. I know if you are a real fan of this song, you will be disappointed maybe because of the lack of marching drums ... such a big part of the song. Well I can't do those drums very easily so this is just my laid back version of the song. It's still beautiful in terms of melody and harmony and some cool guitar and other parts. I first heard this song when I was 12 years old. I remember listening to the 45 on an old stereo and completely digging it. Such was the music of the 70's. After I recorded "Billy Don't Be A Hero" here, this song was requested. I'd always wanted to do it anyhow. So here is my acoustic version of this catchy tune. Hope you like it. And by the way, in case you knew .... the black ovation in the video was stolen from me during a robbery along with a bunch of other musical instruments. As it happens, the ovation was found by the police and returned to me! I was heartbroken when the guitar was stolen and overjoyed to get it back (never thought I'd see it again). The band released their version as a single in a few European countries but not in their native UK where they allowed band Candlewick Green to record a version ( they shared the same management ) and it was a 1974 top 30 hit single for them. The Candlewick Green arrangement is virtually identical to the original Jigsaw version although I think the hook line of the Jigsaw version is more powerful. This is a once lost, now found prank call that Captain Janks did in the late 90's to the Montgomery Mall in Pennsylvania.
