This video is an experiment. The ending of "Three Smart Girls Grow Up", I think, is tainted a bit by all of the chitter chatter going on while Deanna Durbin is giving one of her greatest performances. So with this video, I have eliminated the movie audio and superimposed Deanna's studio recording on top of it. The studio recording is about 1 second slower than the version used in the movie, so I added a few blank frames in a couple of places to make her lips in synch with the music. This is a companion video for the pictorial article on my website ( bobhamswwing.com ), demonstrating one of the many possibilities for mounting and turning a bowl blank on a wood lathe without using a chuck. Despite chopping out quite a bit of the repetitive sanding sequences the series still rungs to 13 segments with a run time of more than an hour and a half. It pretty much had to be a "one take" series since I couldn't put the wood back on the bowl if the recording proved faulty, but it turned out fairly well in that regard right up until the final few minutes. When I reached up to turn the camera on my arm was in front of the lens and the camera locked the focus on my arm. That makes the last part of the final segment out of focus, but I think it is still clear enough to show what is going on. I can't do anything about it now and I really don't want to waste the first hour and a half of video. I am still not too smooth on this video editing stuff, so some of the scene changes and cuts are pretty abrupt. Sorry about that. I hope you enjoy it despite the shortcomings.. + Informações
