This morning in an attempt to quell the growing furor over a birth control rule that would require health insurance plans including those offered by Catholic universities, hospitals and charities to offer contraceptives, the White House announced that they would be announcing an "accommodation" to the rule. The so called "accommodation" puts the burden of the contraception coverage onto the health insurance companies, rather than the religious institutions, requiring the companies to offer free services directly to women. But this "accommodation" wasn't good enough for many in the media. They've been having too good a time ginning up fake controversy around this subject to let it go now. The healthcare plan of Barack Obama, the US president, has again come under fire, this time over a proposal to include free birth control in religious institutions. Though the president modified that order, by having the church's insurance companies be the direct contraceptive providers, the church is still resisting.
