Me covering the Billy Vera and the Beaters classic "At this Moment" ...I figured I look a bit like Billy Vera "at THIS moment" (! ), so I figured it would be a good time to see if my practicing this song had paid off. I think Jim Ehinger's piano in the original is just fantastic! Anyway, for those who may not know, the song actually has a very interesting history. It was first released in 1981 (before I was even born) on the band's "Billy and the Beaters" LP, which I happen to own, but it wasn't until five years later that, after its appearance in Family Ties, the tune was re-released and shot straight to number 1 early the following year! This was a recent benefit concert with legendary artist Billy Vera and his band The Beaters to benefit The Visiting Nurse Services in Westchester. He's a local guy originally from Westchester. The concert was at The Women's Club at CV Mansion White Plains, NY on 11/5/09. The band kicked ass and the party was great! I really enjoyed myself! Hope to attend again next year!
