We present a programmable infrared (IR) technique that utilizes invisible, programmable markers to support interaction beyond the surface of a diffused-illumination (DI) multi-touch system. We combine an IR projector and a standard color projector to simultaneously project visible content and invisible markers. Mobile devices outfitted with IR cameras can compute their 3D positions based on the markers perceived. The proposed techniques enable a collaborative multi-display multitouch tabletop system. Done for our Self & Others II class as our final project. It's supposed to be a creative expression of the concepts from class which impacted our practice the most this semester. We focused on the skills of letting be, listening, and questioning to look beyond the surface as discussed by Doane and Varcoe in their book Family Nursing As Relational Inquiry. From that book we also looked at the idea of connecting across differences. From Chinn's book Peace and Power we used the steps to resolving conflict by expressing "I feel, when, I want, because." Beyond the shoulder-worn system, there is no instrumentation of the user or environment. Foremost, the system allows the wearer to use their hands, arms and legs as graphical, interactive surfaces.
