The February 11th, 1964 concert at the Washington Coliseum, located at 3rd and M Streets NE, occurred during a cold and snowy night. It was the Beatles' first live American performance after their televised appearance on the CBS Ed Sullivan Show. They had arrived in DC earlier that day by train from New York. Before their show that evening, they also appeared at a brief press conference. At show time, there was a sold-out, over-capacity crowd of 8000 fans, by one count. When the Beatles came on, the place erupted with screaming and incessant flash bulbs. The Beatles played for nearly an hour. Because of the set up in the Coliseum, the Beatles were essentially performing on a boxing ring-type stage, and had to move their equipment around on stage a few times in order to give everyone in the audience a chance to see them. Ringo was seen moving his drum set around on stage between sets. Let It Be is the 12th and final studio album released by the English rock band The Beatles. NEW: My drumming tips & tricks: CobusMethod.com _____ It feels like every time I go to Canada something insane happens :) Last time Jared and his team helped me film the ridiculous (but awesome) mountain-top cover of Kings and Queens, and this time we got to record this little gem. We had the idea to do something crazy, and started thinking of maybe doing a cover in suits.. and naturally, The Beatles immediately popped up as a song choice. I did some research to maybe find some, um, "interesting" mixes of Beatles songs.. I found one really cool mix (here it is: bit.ly and arranged this version you just heard. Jared and I worked out the parts an hour or so before recording, and this was the last take we did. Also.. stick switch: way easier than you might think. I was expecting it to be near impossible when I pitched it, but we pretty much never dropped the sticks. Crazy. Get a buddy, play a drum duet, and try it. Drum duets are SO MUCH FUN when they're not competitive.
