The Banshee - Traditional Irish / Celtic. Lorna Pollock, accordion. When were were little we heard the expression "screaming like a banshee". I never knew what a banshee was. This tune is so lovely, despite the title or meaning of the word. Wikipedia says: The Banshee (pronounced /?bæn?i?/, BAN-shee), from the Irish bean sídhe [b?æn ??i?] ("woman of the síde" or "woman of the fairy mounds") is a female spirit in Irish mythology, usually seen as an omen of death and a messenger from the Otherworld. Her Scottish counterpart is the bean shìth (also spelled bean-shìdh). In Welsh folklore, a similar creature is known as the Hag of the mist. This is a slower tempo than most arrangements of The Banshee on YouTube. The midi for this sheet music was at this tempo, so that's how I played it.
