Bass is Base was a Canadian R&B group from Toronto, Ontario, active during the 1990s consisting of Chin Injeti on bass, Ivana Santilli on keyboards, and MC Mystic (Roger Mooking) on percussion. All three members contributed vocals, Injeti and Santilli as singers and Mystic as a rapper. In addition to the early single "Funkmobile", which garnered the band a deal with A&M Records, the band had one breakout top 40 hit, "I Cry". Their debut album, First Impressions for the Bottom Jigglers, won a Juno Award in the Best R&B/Soul Recording category in 1995. Santilli went on to a successful solo career, having now released three critically acclaimed albums. Injeti works as a producer and bass player; in 2005 he produced "hick-hop" artist Ridley Bent's debut release, Blam. Mooking briefly left the music business, and now works as an acclaimed chef in Toronto. He is currently an Executive Chef and Co-owner/partner at Kultura, Eatalia and Nyood. **Updated January 2012.** I think an experimental bass with 9 strings played on the Peavey stand by Mario Bartone from Germany (look him up). It was toward the end of the show whilst walking out that a small group of people were watching this guy messing around. According to another interview I found he has played for over 15 years with 4 and 6 string bases but wanted to improve the range. The reason: So that he can match voices and other instruments such as a piano, (a low A or low G) - this will play chords like a guitar and goes down to 21hz which is close to as low as the human ear can hear. He was not on a stage, I was passing and had my video camera in my bag and shot this as I found it interesting. Not sure that he warrants great analysis, it is what it is, - a guy jamming on a relatively unusual base, nothing more. Please note, responses with bad language will be removed.. + Informações
