Toll, Traffic, Management, Bridge Picture this: Just 12 minutes from Bommanahalli to Electronics City and 25 minutes from Bommanahalli to Hosur. This may seem like a dream for thousands of commuters travelling on the busy Hosur Road everyday, but it will soon become reality. Electronics City As ours was the only vehicle on the flyover, we decided to drive at 40 kmph. We climbed the approach ramp from Bommanahalli side at 12.21 pm. By 12.23 pm we were at Sasken building and reached the other end of the flyover by 12.33 pm. The flyover offers a hassle-free drive. A car driven at 100 kmph could traverse the flyover in just six minutes. The Electronics City flyover is the longest in the city and offers a smooth drive for those using Hosur Road to get to Electronics City. Hosur Road has the densest traffic in the city as it forms both the golden quadrilateral (connecting Bangalore and Chennai) and North-South corridor (connecting Kanyakumari). Every year an average of more than 30 people commit suicide by jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge. A group of people are proposing that barriers be built to prevent people from committing suicide by jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge. These people are a group consisting mostly of family and friends of suicide "victims" at the Golden Gate Bridge. The cost of various proposals being offered start at $40 million dollars. I do not agree that it is right to destroy the experience of 100000+ visitors that come to the bridge each year. People who want to commit suicide will simply find another way to do so, thus the barriers are not likely to actually save any lives, but it will certainly destroy the view and experience of the Golden Gate Bridge. The Golden Gate Bridge is an icon of the San Francisco Bay Area and NORthern CALifornia. The panoramic view and magnificent perspective of the bay is an experience that we should not be deprived of because a handful of very disturbed people choose to kill themselves there. Even the options that do not obscure the view, such as a steel cable net below the sidewalk, will cost $40 million! Couldn't that money be better used for suicide prevention programs? Wouldn't that save more live? No wonder they recently raised the Golden Gate Bridge Toll by an additional dollar. The most destructive flood from the Missouri river ever promises to wreak even more havoc on people, property and infrastructure through the Bismarck/Mandan metropolitan area for the next two months. At today's Missouri River flood meeting (day number 16 for these multi-jurisdictional gatherings) officials are hoping the next round of historic flow releases upstream from the Garrison dam floodgates (opened last week for flood management for the first time in its 60 years) won't overrun the temporary levee protection measures taken in the last two weeks. A system of 15 miles of earthen levee barriers were hastily constructed to protect the populated areas of Bismarck/Mandan and its public infrastructure. Outside those protected areas, on both sides of the river, over 800 homes have been lost already. Hundreds of other individual homeowners, also outside the public protection area, are now in their own personal battles with the raging Missouri river.
