The Way We Were-Barbra Streisand (Piano Cover) 4.47 min. | 4.625 avaliação | 9364 exibições An inspiring pianist. Performace by Frank Merandi. "The Way We Were" is the title song to the 1973 movie The Way We Were, starring Barbra Streisand and Robert Redford. The song was written by Alan Bergman and Marilyn Bergman, scored by Marvin Hamlisch and performed by Streisand. It won the Academy Award and Golden Globe for Best Song and also made AFI's list of Top 100 Songs from Film; it was ranked number eight. "The Way We Were" topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart for one week in 1974 and was replaced by "Love's Theme" by Love Unlimited Orchestra. It then returned to number one for two additional weeks. The song also spent two weeks atop the easy listening chart, Streisand's second single to reach the top of this chart (following 1964's "People"). The 45 version of the song is a different vocal take than the version which appeared on the original movie soundtrack and subsequent greatest hits compilations. Both versions use the same music track. The difference in the vocals can most easily be heard on the line "Smiles we gave to one another" at approximately 1:15 into the song. The true 45 RPM single version has never appeared on CD. The soundtrack version of the song, a completely different take with alternate music track, appears on "Just For the Record," Streisand's 4-CD box set collection released in 1991. A bootleg of the recording sessions exists featuring Streisand with composer Marvin Hamlisch in a recording studio as they perform various takes of the song. One .... + Informações |

Can it be that it was all so simple then Or has time rewritten every line If we had the chance to do it all again Tell me, would we, could we Mem'ries may be beautiful and yet What's too painful to remember We simply choose to forget So it's the laughter we will remember Whenever we remember the way we were The way we were TRADUÇÃO O Jeito Como Éramos As lembranças iluminam a minha mente Embaçadas memórias coloridas do jeito que éramos Imagens espalhadas dos sorrisos que deixamos para trás Sorrisos que demos um ao outro pelo jeito que éramos Será que era tudo tão simples naquela época Ou o tempo reescreveu cada linha Se tivéssemos a chance de fazer tudo de novo Me diga, nós deveriamos, nós poderíamos? As lembranças podem ser belas e ainda assim O que é doloroso demais nós simplesmente decidimos esquecer Então é das gargalhadas que iremos lembrar Sempre que nos lembrarmos como éramos A forma como éramos. + Informações |

Barbra Streisand - The Way We Were (A. Bergman, M. Bergman, M. Hamlisch) ~ Erwin Lazaro 109 3.32 min. | 4.7090907 avaliação | 1380 exibições Okay. I'm finally making the transition to my new equipment. I was having a difficult time trying to figure out how to record in this HD -- Dolby Digital world. I'm so used to my seven-year-old equipment. I kept thinking in terms of the past. I'm also very comfortable using a microphone for several reasons, I didn't think about using my natural voice. Then, a few kind people have commented on my videos and reminded me that I need to use my own voice without effects on the microphone. Up to this point in time, I've been using effects through my microphone only because I felt the quality of the sound while using my SHURE SM58 and the microphone from my old camcorder gave my videos a nostalgic character to the production. I really enjoyed that particular sound from my simple equipment, especially with the pop standards. Many people have liked it, as well. But, a few people have voiced their strong opinions that I'm masking my voice. I definitely appreciate that opinion and it has bothered me in some ways that I've had to adapt my voice for these YouTube videos. Over the last few weeks I've been experimenting with my new camcorder which records in high definition. And, more importantly, it records in Dolby Digital sound. The built-in microphone also seems to have a function like a limiter and automatically adjusts the volume of the sound depending on the source. My preliminary efforts have led to frustration as I tried to use my SHURE SM58 and my house speakers in .... + Informações |

Guitarra 2010 - Tribute to Barbara Streisand 3.68 min. | 5.0 avaliação | 371 exibições Barbara Streisand is critically acclaimed as the best ever female balladeer of all times. The Way We Were was taken from the 1974 movie with the same name. People was taken from the 1964 movie in which she starred and introduced this song. This tribute entails the melodic lyricism that is found in all her vocal renditions. The melodic range and tonal colours shown between the prime and alto guitars along with rhythmical bass lines by the contrabass and the Guitarron makes this arrangement a beautiful guitar orchestral rendition of two of her greatest songs; an arragement even the composer and singer would likely to be pleased with. Performed by: RJGE Main Ensemble Composed by: Marvin Hamlisch (The way we were); Julie Styne & Bob Merill (People) Arranged by: Ms. Magdalene Wong (The Way we were); Mr. Michael Gaspar (People) Video credits to Raffles Film Society. + Informações |

Barbra Streisand - The Way We WEREN'T - 1980 - LIVE - Bergman Tribute w/ a little speech 5.13 min. | 4.5555553 avaliação | 3051 exibições This is the alternate version of "The Way We Were". This upload is the actual LIVE recording of this, which Barbra performed in 1980 at a Tribute for Alan and Marilyn Bergman. Another cut of this alternate is on Barbra's retrospective album (4-CD set), Just For The Record, but it was dubbed and "cleaned up". I live this live version better! More notes are below if you'd like. I also added some pictures from the film just for something to look at while you listen. *When Barbra says "Sydney", she's referring to Sydney Pollack (who is in the audience), the Director of The Way We Were. He is also pictured around :35 (I think) along with Robert Redford and Barbra Streisand (a picture of the three of them). *Barbra and the Bergmans preferred this alternate version rather than the original, but Marvin Hamlisch (the composer) preferred the one we all know so well. Marvin won when they decided to play each version against the last scene of the film. The one we all know...the one that "made it" was a better fit. Everyone agreed in the end! *Barbra was signed to the film before a leading man and she desperately wanted to star with Redford. But Redford read the script and hated it, refusing to agree to play the role. That's when Sydney Pollack was brought in as the Director specifically because he and Redford were friend in real life. Sydney "beat him down" and they even changed the script to make the character of Hubbell more to Redford's liking. At the VERY last minute, Redford .... + Informações |
