Jive Bunny and the Mastermixers é uma série de álbuns de áudio (incluindo singles e outros) que procuram fazer "medley" ou "mix" das chamadas "pop oldies". "Pop oldies", pois a maioria dos mix de Jive Bunny and the Mastermixers procura juntar músicas de rock and roll, rockabilly, doo wop, twist e surf music para fazer um megamix fazendo uso de samplers e sintetizadores. Um álbum ou outro também contém mix de Blues e outros ritmos, como o Swing e música pop. Cada canção utilizado um sampler de tema instrumental para juntar as músicas antigas em conjunto, da mesma forma como megamixes de [[dance music. Ele formou uma banda chamada "The Gotham City Crime Fighters" que se transformou posteriormente no "Motowns", especializando-se em soul music. Em 1968, Castillo juntou-se ao saxofonista barítono Stephen "Doc" Kupka (vulgo "O Doutor Funk") eo trompetista/trombonista Mic Gillette, mudou-se para Oakland e começou a escrever material próprio. Eles mudaram o nome da banda para "Tower Of Power" e começaram a tocar freqüentemente em "Bay Area". Em 1970, o Tower Of Power (já com o trompetista Greg Adams) assinou um contrato de gravação com a "Bill Graham's San Francisco Records" e rapidamente lançou seu primeiro álbum, "East Bay Grease".
