Antiquísima y Venerable Hermandad del Santísimo Cristo de la Vera Cruz en el Calvario ( Cristo de las Aguas ). San Roque Cádiz. Semana Santa San Roque Ciudad de San Roque Donde Reside la de Gibraltar. Declarada de Interés Turístico Nacional de Andalucía. La Hermandad y Cofradia de "La Veracruz en el Calvario", procede tambien de Gibraltar. Su historia se remonta al siglo XVII, año de 1.610, segun documentos que relata el historiador Hernandez del Portillo, se hallaba ubicada en una iglesia de la calle Real. Despues de la perdida de la Gibraltar, se refundó de nuevo en la nueva ciudad que se creó en las inmediaciones de la Ermita de San Roque, el dia 29 de Julio de 1.717, donandosele a Juan de Silva, una capilla de la nueva Parroquia de Santa Maria la Coronada, que fué levantada sobre la Ermita de San Roque, dicha donación se formalizó el año 1.720 y desde entonces es su sede canonica. En ese mismo año el Rey de España ordenó que se hicieran rogativas para librar a la población del colera que existia y con tal motivo se sacó en procesión por las calles del pueblo. Tambien el dia 5 de Mayo de 1780 la población acordó realizar una procesión con la imagen del Cristo en petición de lluvias, debido a la gran sequia que azotaba la zona, de ahi que le quedara tambien el sobrenombre de Cristo de las Aguas. Composed of thin, English-born Stan Laurel (1890--1965) and heavy, American-born Oliver Hardy (1892--1957) they became well known during the late 1920s to the mid-1940s for their work in motion pictures; the team also appeared on stage throughout America and Europe. The two comedians first worked together on the film The Lucky Dog. After a period appearing separately in several short films for the Hal Roach studio during the 1920s, they began appearing in movie shorts together in 1926. Laurel and Hardy officially became a team the following year, and soon became Hal Roach's most lucrative stars. Among their most popular and successful films were the features Sons of the Desert (1933), Way Out West (1937), and Block-Heads (1938) and the shorts Big Business (1929), Liberty (1929), and their Academy Award-winning short, The Music Box (1932). The pair left the Roach studio in 1940, then appeared in eight "B" comedies for 20th Century Fox and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer from 1941 to 1945. For the first three seasons, Petticoat Junction focused mostly on broad humor and slapstick comedy. There was a lot of physical comedy and other types of wild humor that was characteristic of the series, much like its sister show, The Beverly Hillbillies, and its own later spinoff show Green Acres. There were many crossover appearances in season 3 alone between the casts of both shows. The Douglases (Lisa and Oliver) make frequent appearances on Petticoat Junction, and likewise Kate, Joe, Charley and Floyd, and even Betty Jo and Bobbie Jo show up on Green Acres. But as the series progressed beginning with season 4, with the addition of Mike Minor as Steve Elliot and Meredith MacRae as the third Billie Jo, the show took on an entirely different feel. Although singing had been in a small handful of the earlier episodes, most notably "The Ladybugs" and a few other episodes in which Bobbie Jo, then played by Pat Woodell, did a brief solo, musical numbers and singing became prominent from season 4 onward, and slapstick comedy took a back seat. The 68-minute film was released by the Producers Releasing Corporation (PRC), one of the so-called "poverty row" film studios in mid-twentieth century Hollywood. Although made on a small budget with bare sets and straightforward camera work, Detour has gathered much praise through the years and is held in high regard. Al (Tom Neal) is a piano player who sets off hitchhiking his way to California to be with his fiancee. Along the way a convertible driven by Charles Haskell Jr. stops to pick him up. Al is driving while Haskell sleeps when a rainstorm begins and Al pulls over to put up the top. However, Haskell does not wake up and falls out onto the pavement, dead.
