A reforma do prédio da Estação das Artes segue a todo vapor e já tem data para ficar pronta: 9 de abril, dia do aniversário de Cubatão. O espaço, hoje utilizado pela Secretaria de Cultura para ministração de cursos artísticos, guarda grande parte da história da movimentação ferroviária na Cidade e no Estado. Após as obras, o local vai abrigar o projeto "Barro Ofício" ea Secretaria Municipal de Turismo. Já é possível ver o resultado da restauração na chegada. A fachada recuperou o aspecto original de quando foi construída, na década de 70, com a cerâmica no estilo "tijolinho" em toda a frente. A chamada "porta de cargas" -- utilizada para movimentação de mercadorias para dentro dos vagões -- também recebeu cuidados, ficando da mesma maneira como antigamente. As melhorias incluem toda infraestrura da Estação, de acordo com o arquiteto Amaury Barros. "Reformamos as salas de aula, banheiros e área administrativa, pintamos as paredes, trocamos as luminárias do corredor, construímos rampas de acesso com corrimão e espaço para exposição, instalamos novo gradil na frente do prédio, reformamos o telhado e toda parte elétrica", afirma. Todo o piso da plataforma também será nivelado. A prefeita Márcia Rosa e vários secretários municipais visitaram as obras na tarde desta segunda-feira (19/3). O trem está em perfeito estado de conservação nos remetendo a um de um tempo onde a Maria Fumaça era um meio tradicional de transporte; tem-se a sensação de estar em um filme da época das grandes fazendas e cafezais. DVD: www.amazon.com thefilmarchive.org The Battle of Britain was the fourth of Frank Capra's Why We Fight series of seven propaganda films, which made the case for fighting and winning the Second World War. It was released in 1943 and concentrated on the German bombardment of the United Kingdom in anticipation of Operation Sea Lion, the planned Nazi invasion of Great Britain. The episode has been criticized for an anti-Polish bias. The bias is a result of propaganda justifying the Western Allies' alliance with the Soviets; as Soviets had to be portrayed as the "good guys", the Allies who were unsympathetic towards Soviets, such as the Poles, were misportrayed or simply ignored. Thus in this episode the map of Europe shown, amazingly, shows half of Poland free (to avoid mentioning Soviet annexation of Polish territories following Soviet invasion of Poland), repeats Nazi propaganda false claims about the Polish Airforce being destroyed on the ground (contrasting it with the correct fact that the RAF was not destroyed), and ignores the significant Polish participation in the battle of Britain (support of Polish pilots from No. 303 Polish Fighter Squadron and other units was widely discussed in Britain at the time this propaganda piece was filmed).
