Anoa Aoba's Gradian blood has awoken (For some reason) and now, she has the hidden power of Metalion under her control Hyper Anoa's stock weapons are the same as the regular Anoa Aoba, but with added weapons Back beam, Up laser, Down laser and her options are only 2. Her design is mainly from Gradius 2 MSX, Back beam is exactly like tail gun, but only slower and much harder to use, and there are 2 bullets shot from the back. Pretty useless. Up laser shoots upwards (of course) in a horizontal way, like a floating laser. But the catch is when you switch to double, the up laser is gone and you want to change back to laser, you have to power it up again. A bit useful for enemies above you and unable to shoot it. Down laser is, you guessed it, shoots downwards laser, but missile is automatically cancelled when you activate this. Again, I find this weapon useless. Her options are limited to only 2 this time, much like the Metalion can only produce 2 options, that is until the x68000 version. Overall, she's a bit hard to use because of the many power ups needed, and switching from laser to double is a hassle sine laser is positioned now at the 7th power up. Not that enjoyable too because nothing much is added. Laser power and Double power is exactly the same as the regular Anoa Aoba. I'd say she's best for advanced players and for expert players. So far, it has some jerky moments now and then but the sound and overall video quality are quite fine. The downside is that the whole interface is in japanese. Good luck with that... I actually don't have issues with the player's ship/loli/whatever, but I would've appreciated a full screen mode (which maybe is available but I didn't notice it!) because it's pretty small, Radio Zonde small if you ignore the flying engine/shield, so you kind of need the full screen to see where you are going. Now, the boss featured was kind of disappointing, not because of the danmaku but because it's so SMALL. The boss warning is probably one of the best and most kickass warnings I've seen in a while, super techno awesome and then, bam, anti-climatic music and a super small boss... Put a 2x screens sized ship and some brutal techno punchi-punchi and we have a winner. I wouldn't mind if the ship explodes and releases the smaller one but big, surreal mean machines are always a plus.
