Dr. Rankin, professor of History at UT Dallas, wanted to know how to reach more students and involve more people in class discussions both in and out of the classroom. She had heard of Twitter... She collaborated with a graduate student, Kim Smith, from the Emerging Media and Communications (EMAC) and reached out to EMAC faculty for advice. As a Graduate student in EMAC I assisted her in The Twitter Experiment and documented the project to share with others. The feedback is varied, but the lesson for me, as a student, was the importance of a professor's attitude and willingness to try new technologies in the classroom, especially a more traditional class such as History. It was a great pleasure to assist Dr. Rankin with this. I documented the experiment and used it in my digital video class with Professor Dean Terry, @therefore, and assisted Dr. Rankin in the experiment as a part of my collaboration and content creation course with Dan Langendor, @dlangendorf. To understand this experiment we first need to see how ordinary particles, or little balls of matter, act. If we shoot small objects, such as marbles, at a screen containing a single slit, we see a pattern form where they went through the slit and hit on the back wall. Now, if we add a second slit we would expect to see two bands directly behind the slits. Now, lets look at waves. The waves hit the slit and radiate out striking the back wall with the most intensity directly in line with the slit. The line of brightness on the back screen shows that intensity. This is similar to the line the marbles make. But, when we add the second slit, something different happens. If the top of one wave meets the bottom of another wave, they cancel each other out. So now, there is an interference pattern on the back wall. Places where the two tops meet are the highest intensity, the bright lines, and where they cancel, there is nothing. So, when we shoot particles, such as matter, through two slits, we get this. Two bands of hits. And, with waves we get an interference pattern of many bands. Good .... + Informações

Asch conformity experiments The Asch conformity experiments were a series of studies published in the 1950s that demonstrated the power of conformity in groups. These are also known as the "Asch Paradigm". Introduction Experiments led by Solomon Asch asked groups of students to participate in a "vision test." In reality, all but one of the participants were confederates of the experimenter, and the study was really about how the remaining students would react to the confederates' behavior. Method In the basic Asch paradigm, the participants ? the real subjects and the confederates ? were all seated in a classroom. They were asked a variety of questions about the lines such as how long is A, compare the length of A to an everyday object, which line was longer than the other, which lines were the same length, etc. The group was told to announce their answers to each question out loud. The confederates always provided their answers before the study participant, and always gave the same answer as each other. They answered a few questions correctly but eventually began providing incorrect responses. In a control group, with no pressure to conform to an erroneous view, only one subject out of 35 ever gave an incorrect answer. Solomon Asch hypothesized that the majority of people would not conform to something obviously wrong; however, when surrounded by individuals all voicing an incorrect answer, participants provided incorrect responses on a high proportion of the questions .... + Informações

This experiment was conducted using 123 male participants. Each participant was put into a group with 5 to 7 "confederates" (people who knew the true aims of the experiment, but were introduced as participants to the naive "real" participant). The participants were shown a card with a line on it, followed by another card with 3 lines on it labeled a, b, and c. The participants were then asked to say which line matched the line on the first card in length. Each line question was called a "trial". The "real" participant answered last or penultimately. For the first two trials, the subject would feel at ease in the experiment, as he and the other "participants" gave the obvious, correct answer. On the third trial, the confederates would start all giving the same wrong answer. There were 18 trials in total and the confederates answered incorrectly for 12 of them, these 12 were known as the "critical trials". The aim was to see whether the real participant would change his answer and respond in the same way as the confederates, despite it being the wrong answer. Solomon Asch thought that the majority of people would not conform to something obviously wrong, but the results showed that 25% of the participants did not conform on any trial. 75% conformed at least once, and 5% conformed every time (37% conformity over subjects averaged across the critical trials). *Transplanted peppers and tomatoes this week. Some are organic in soil, some are hydroponic. I'm 36 days into this experiment and I'm amazed how fast plants in liquid with air to their roots via an air stone can grow! To do this organically, you have to use an organic nutrient solution like Age Old Nutrients. It comes in both grow and bloom formulas. I used only distilled water so as not to take any risks. I learned not to use tap water in another experiment as tap water is full of chlorine and that is very bad for the roots and will turn them brown within a day. Brown roots is a bad sign! White roots are a good sign! I had to watch the PH closely as it is such a small container, things can change very quickly. The PH can change quickly up or down. Typically it rises in the long run. If it rises too high, the nutrient uptake basically shuts down and the plant ceases to grow. If the PH rises to alarming levels like 7.5 and up, the plant will most likely start to die as evidenced by root browning. If you can catch it and correct it quickly, it would be just a minor setback and slow down in growth. If it gets too far out of hand, no amount of hydrogen peroxide or Hygrozyme will not save your plant. In a later video on this grow, I thought I had an issue with phosphorous which turned out to be an inaccurate diagnosis. The underlying issue was that the nutrient solution temperatures were far to low causing blossom end rot. Either the flowers fell off or it start to bear fruit .... + Informações

here is a experiment i did with the aeropress and i was suprised how great the results where.i am using two differant brewing methods here and combining them to make a single cup of coffee. i found that this method keeps most of the oils and makes for a completely unique type of taste.hope you enjoy trying this out and maybe using some of your own variables .please let me know how you get on. note...it is best to use a thermometer to obtain the right temperature but here i will explain how to get very close to 80 degrees celcius by another method...always use freshly ground beans and for this experiment use a grind that you would use for a normal drip coffee do not let the drip part of the process go beyond two minutes as this might let some bitterness through.if you follow my method here you will not get any bitterness. + Informações

What you're seeing here is a Parapsychological (psi) experiment that tests to see whether or not, test-subjects can mentally influence the outcomes of a random system by their minds. An RNG is an electronic circuit that creates a sequence of "heads" and "tails" by repeatedly flipping an electronic "coin" and automatically recording the results. Furthermore, the "heads" and "tails" are actually a sequence of randoms bits "1's" and "0's" The Random Number Generators in these experiments rely on radioactive decay times.
