Khentrul Lodro Thaye Rinpoche "400 Verses of Aryadeva" Part 1 7.70 min. | 5.0 avaliação | 7152 exibições Khentrul Lodrö Thayé Rinpoche spent fifteen years studying at Kat'hog Monastery in eastern Tibet, Khenchen Jigme Phuntsok's Serthar Buddhist Institute in Kardze, Tibet, and Penor Rinpoche's monastery Namdroling in India. Acknowledged as a scholar of the highest level, he twice received the title of khenpo (equivalent to a Doctor of Philosophy), making him a khenchen, or double doctorate. He received the entire Nyingt'hig lineage (including Nyingt'hig Yabzhi, Dzod Dun, Ngalso Korsum, Yeshe Lama, and Chetzun Nyingt'hig), as well as many empowerments, scriptural transmissions, and explanations on the pith instructions for Great Perfection practice. In addition, Khentrul Rinpoche received the rarely bestowed oral transmission of Khenpo Ngakchung's Nyingt'hig lineage. From Jigme Phuntsok Rinpoche, Dodrubchen Rinpoche, Penor Rinpoche, and Katok Moktza Rinpoche, he received all of the empowerments and scriptural transmissions for the Kama and Terma cycles of the Nyingma school. He has taught for many years at monasteries in Tibet and India and is the abbot of Mardo Tashi Choling in eastern Tibet where he established a retreat center and shedra. He directs the education and spiritual practice of 300 monks, seventy advanced-degree candidates, sixty children, and twenty retreatants. He was invited by Chagdud Tulku Rinpoche shortly before his death, primarily to create and teach a shedra program at Rigdzin Ling, as well as to teach in North America at the Chagdud Gonpa centers and .... + Informações |

Contemplations on Pleasure & The Art of Edward Robert Hughes & Frank Cadogan Cowper 5.60 min. | 5.0 avaliação | 189 exibições This is very loosely based on verses of the 3rd century Buddhist monk Aryadeva on the subject of abandoning belief in hedonism. There is an arc to the argument as the imagined author of the haikus gradually changes perspective. The haikus are illustrated with the paintings of the late pre-Raphaelite English artists Edward Robert Hughes (1851-1914), and Frank Cadogan Cowper (1877-1958), with a single painting of each of Konstantin Flavitsky and James Tissot thrown in for good measure because their subject matter was especially fitting for the respective haikus.. + Informações |

garchen rinpoche white tara pt1.mov 8.48 min. | 5.0 avaliação | 227 exibições His Eminence Garchen Rinpoche is a Drikung Kagyu lama who was known in the thirteenth century as the Siddha Gar Chodingpa, a heart disciple of Kyobpa Jigten Sumgon, founder of the Drikung Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism. In ancient India, he had incarnated as Mahasiddha Aryadeva, the lotus-born disciple of the great Nagarjuna. In the seventh century, he was known as Lonpo Gar, the minister of the Tibetan Dharma King Songsten Gampo. Garchen Rinpoche was recognized and enthroned in eastern Tibet by the former Drikung Kyabgon Zhiwe Lodro. When he was seven, he was brought to Lho Miyal Monastery, which he administered from the age of eleven. Studying and practicing under the direction of the Siddha Chime Dorje, Garchen Rinpoche received vast and profound instructions on the preliminary practices (ngondro), the fivefold practice of Mahamudra and the six yogas of Naropa. Then, at the age of 22, after completing a two and a half year retreat, he was imprisoned for 20 years during the political turmoil of China's Cultural Revolution. While in the labor camp, he received meditation instruction from his root lama, the Nyingma master Khenpo Munsel. Enduring hardship and practicing secretly, Garchen Rinpoche attained realization of the lama's wisdom mind. Since his release from prison in 1979, Garchen Rinpoche has made great effort to rebuild the Drikung Kagyu monasteries, reestablish the Buddhist teachings, and build two boarding schools for local children in eastern Tibet .... + Informações |

Contemplations on Impermanence & The Art of Evelyn de Morgan 4.22 min. | 5.0 avaliação | 68 exibições These haikus, based on the first part of Aryadeva's "400 stanzas", are written from the point of view of one being led to contemplate death and impermanence, and thus give up unwarranted fearlessness and certainty that things are permanent. There is a trajectory to the argument. This contemplation and acceptance of Death is a powerful foundation, analogous to the realization of the Fool stepping out into the abyss. The reading is illustrated by the beautiful paintings of the English artist Evelyn Pickering de Morgan (1850-1919) whose work fits perfectly this subject of contemplation. On the morning of her seventeenth birthday, Evelyn recorded in her diary, "Art is eternal, but life is short... I will make up for it now, I have not a moment to lose." The music is a sublime recording by Ashkenazy of Chopin's nocturne no. 20.. + Informações |
