Arthur Crudup - That's All Right (original version) 2.90 min. | 4.9017544 avaliação | 55561 exibições Arthur "Big Boy" Crudup (August 24, 1905 ? March 28, 1974) was a delta blues singer and guitarist. He is best known outside blues circles for writing songs later covered by Elvis Presley and dozens of other artists, such as "That's All Right" (1946)[1], "My Baby Left Me" and "So Glad You're Mine." Arthur Crudup was born in Forest, Mississippi in 1905. For a time he lived and worked throughout the South and Midwest as a migrant worker. He and his family returned to Mississippi in 1926. He sang gospel, then began his career as a blues singer around Clarksdale, Mississippi. As a member of the Harmonizing Four he visited Chicago in 1939. Crudup stayed in Chicago to work as a solo musician, but barely made a living as a street singer. Record producer Lester Melrose allegedly found him while he was living in a packing crate, introduced him to Tampa Red and signed him to a recording contract with RCA Victor's Bluebird label. He recorded with RCA in the late 1940s and with Ace Records, Checker Records and Trumpet Records in the early 1950s and toured throughout the country, specifically black establishments in the South, with Sonny Boy Williamson II and Elmore James (around 1948). He also recorded under the names Elmer James and Percy Lee Crudup. He was popular in the South with records such as "Mean Old 'Frisco Blues", "Who's Been Foolin' You" and "That's All Right". Crudup stopped recording in the 1950s, however, after further battles over royalties. His last Chicago session .... + Informações |

Arthur Crudup - My Baby Left Me 2.63 min. | 4.935484 avaliação | 12381 exibições Arthur Crudup is the original singer/song writer of this song, which Elvis Presley eventually covered. Lyrics are: Yes my baby left me, Never said a word. Was it something I done, Something that she heard? My baby left me, My baby left me. My baby even left me, Never said a word. Now I stand at my window, Wring my hands and cry. I hate to lose that woman, Hate to say goodbye. You know she left me, Yes, she left me. My baby even left me, Never said a word. Baby, one of these mornings, Lord, it won't be long, You'll look for me and, Baby, and daddy he'll be gone. You know you left me, You know you left me. My baby even left me, Never said a word. Now, I stand at my window, Wring my hands and moan. All I know is that The one I love is gone. My baby left me, You know she left me. My baby even left me, Never said a word. + Informações |

He is best known outside blues circles for writing songs later covered many times, such as "That's All Right" , "My Baby Left Me" and "So Glad You're Mine." This one is from the beginning of his recording career, from the year 1942. Ihope owners of the rights want to see this as an honor to this fine artist. Arthur Crudup - Love Me Mama - Where Did You Stay Last Night 6.15 min. | 5.0 avaliação | 2213 exibições Arthur Crudup - "Love Me Mama" backed with "Where Did You Stay Last Night," a 1951 RCA Records release. Arthur "Big Boy" Crudup began his career as a blues singer in Mississippi. In the late 30s he moved to Chicago ending up homeless and living in a packing crate. He was discovered and eventually signed with RCA Victor's Bluebird label. His tune "That's All Right," was released by RCA in the late 40s and was the first 45 RPM record made. "That's All right" was later covered by Elvis on Sun Records and was Elvis' first single. Crudup had some major battles over royalties and eventually stopped recording in the 1950s. Since "That's Alright" was Elvis' first record, Crudup was often referred to as "The Father of Rock and Roll," a label that he found amusing. Pissed off by his lack of royalties, Crudup dismissively called Elvis, "Elvin Preston." Crudup was his own man.. + Informações |

The very real Blues: Arthur Crudup & Sons 4.05 min.
