Art Mooney - 1965 12.42 min. | 5.0 avaliação | 307 exibições Art Mooney (4 February 1911, Brooklyn, New York -- 1993, Florida) was an American popular bandleader. His biggest hits were "I'm Looking Over a Four Leaf Clover" and "Baby Face" in 1948 and "Nuttin' For Christmas," with Barry Gordon, in 1955. His fourth million selling song "Honey Babe" (1955) was used in the motion picture, "Battle Cry," having reached the Top 10 in the United States. He also made a very popular 1948 recording of "Bluebird of Happiness", but it could not compete with Jan Peerce's best-selling 1945 version. Mooney's name, as well as his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, was prominently featured in the motion picture The Adventures of Ford Fairlane. (extract from Wikipedia 2011). + Informações |

Art Mooney and His Orchestra - Daydreams (1956) 2.45 min. | 5.0 avaliação | 379 exibições Charted at #73 on Billboard Hot 100 in July 1956. Art Mooney's orchestra was very popular in the late 1940's with hits such as "I'm Looking Over a Four-Leaf Clover" and "Baby Face". "Daydreams" has a simliar sound to these records, and it's one of my favorites. After 1950, he did not chart until a brief comeback with "Honey-Babe" which went all the way up to #6 in April 1955. "Daydreams" was his next chart record following this, and there were two more entries in the bottom half of the Hot 100 up until 1958, with three more bubbling under the Hot 100 until the last ironcially named single "I Ain't Down Yet" which got to #108 in December 1960. Original Billboard review: "Mooney has a hot commercial item here that could put him back on the charts. It's a swingy, old-fashioned treatment of an infectious melody with gang choral work and relaxed banjo backing. Deejays and jukes should give the platter powerful play attention." Written by Al Hoffman and Dick Manning. B-side is "Somebody Stole My Muchacha".. + Informações |
