Art and Dotty Todd - "Joie de Vivre" 1956 2.68 min. | 0 avaliação | 32 exibições ART AND DOTTY TODD sing "Joie de Vivre" on Dart #T-404, recorded 1956. This was Art and Dotty's third single, released one year before the song they'd forever be known for: "Chanson D'Amour." Both songs were penned by Art and Dotty, which explains why they're so similar. This disc is a nice change of pace of you like the style, but you're tired of the hit.. + Informações |

Art & Dotty Todd - Sarah ('70s live novelty song) 2.17 min. | 3.0 avaliação | 926 exibições A large part of the live shows that Art & Dotty Todd did contained witty, often risque stage patter or songs. This is one of those songs, though not very risque. I think one of the ideas behind this particular song was to get inebriated audience members to sing along with the tongue-tying lyrics and see what would happen. I wanted to upload more things from this rare vinyl LP, but many of the songs had too much scratching sounds to be fully appreciated. Only a few of the songs were standards, most were upbeat types, some instrumentals and novelty.. + Informações |

Chanson D'amour 3.58 min. | 5.0 avaliação | 4595 exibições This is a tribute for my Youtube friend (and great musician) Phil from France. YT account name = Salmonfishand ships. He has done a number of duets with me, and collaborations with larger groups, and has been nice enough to include me in them. And he always writes in English. Thanks Phil So I thought I'd do a song with French words in it, just to be fair. I didn't know how to say 'rat ta da ta da' in French so I said that in English! This was a hit for a duo named Art and Dotty Todd and later for Manhattan transfer. The pic is a sunrise in Florida from a long-ago vacation.. + Informações |

The Teddy Bears - To Know Him is To Love Him 1958 45-Dore (Canada) 503-A.wmv 2.38 min. | 5.0 avaliação | 2778 exibições Phil Spector (guitar, vocals), Annette Kleinbard (vocals), Marshall Leib (vocals), Harvey Goldstein (vocals, 1958).. Phil Spector. As a senior at Fairfax High in Los Angeles, Phil wrote the song To Know Him Is To Love Him, the title being taken from the epitath on his father's tombstone. Together with Annette Klinebard and Marshall Leib they auditioned for Herb Newman and Lou Bedell's Era records, home to Art & Dottie Todd and Gogi Grant. Era liked what they heard and an agreement was drawn up to record for Era's Doré label. Time was booked at Gold Star Studios in the summer of 1958. The group, known as The Teddy Bears, supplemented by drummer Sandy Nelson laid down four tracks in these sessions, and from these, To Know Him is To Love Him was selected as the top side of the first single. The investment of US$75 resulted in Phil, only 17 at the time, having written, arranged, performed and producing one of the best selling records of the late 50s. While the record was slow to garner airplay, eventually it reached number 1 in the USA, staying there for 3 weeks. In total the record was in the top 100 for a total of 23 weeks. In Canada it reached number 1 on the CHUM charts in Toronto in December, and in the UK it hit number 1 at that same time. In many ways, the Teddy Bear's year at the top would be a microcosm of Phil's future. After To Know Him is To Love Him would top the charts, the group moved on to Imperial. These recordings, including an LP with a twee cover photo of .... + Informações |

It was founded by Herb Newman and Lou Bedell in 1955 as a pop, country and western and jazz label. Era had a #1 hit in 1956 with Gogi Grant's "The Wayward Wind", written by Newman. In 1959 Bedell sold his interest in the label to Newman. Artists who experienced hits on Era include Ketty Lester ("Love Letters"), Larry Verne ("Mr. Custer"), Donnie Brooks ("Mission Bell"), Dorsey Burnette ("Tall Oak Tree"), Art & Dotty Todd ("Chanson D' Amour") and The Castells ("So This Is Love"). Era distributed other labels including Monogram, Gregmark and Eden. From 1969 to 1971, Era was associated with Happy Tiger, which reissued and distributed some of Era's oldies.
